Everyone needs to chill! He had a good game, made a great save. He will have crap games and let howlers in, on account of the fact that he is still a kid in goalkeeping terms! Be happy about him, but lets not put the Neville Southall millstone around his neck just yet lads?

Some are going over the top about the lad, but I think it's just a sense of relief that at last (since Martyn) we have a keeper at the club we have confidence in.

Southall and Martyn made mistakes. All keepers do. What they did though was martial the defence and game manage which Pickford does.

*Just watching Mignolet clown school keeping. But of course none of Evertons new signings would get in that side.

The situation is analogous to United's signing of de Gea several years ago - the club paid good money to acquire a young commodity that has already been proven at the highest level, and the only problem going forward will be fending off interest from bigger fish.

So Jordan Pickford joins a rather exclusive club of three post war Everton keepers (and he's the 36th keeper to play for us post war) to keep 2 clean sheets on their first two appearances for the Blues.. can you name the other 2 (one of whom did it in the first 3 games he played)?

Genuinely right I'd let him take every set piece.

I heard an interview with Mark Schwarzer and he said the coaches at Sunderland said that Pickford was one of the best technical players at the club and was more than good enough to play in another position.
