2017/18 Jordan Pickford

Looking very composed. He’s doing things on the ball that would be causing aneurisms all over the Park End.

Tbf I would rather he didn't do that when he gets back to the day job and I haven't stepped foot in the Park End.

If you have decent players you can do that but we just get hemmed in by the opposition at the best of times.

This would be more than important to us that Pickford would get the nod.

Do we really think he will be Englands number one?
Im afraid forces in the system will try to pave the way to Butland cause he will be Liverpool player soon.

BTW how far have Holland sunk from their glory days
Their 2006 WC squad had van der Sar, van Bronckhorst, Cocu, van Nistelrooy, van der Vaart, Robben, Sneijder, van Persie and van Bommel.

Last night, their most talented players on the pitch were van Dijk and Strootman; the rest really aren't people who set the world alight at all.

Although, to be fair you could say pretty much the same about England when you consider the 'talent' in our squad compared to that of 2006.

Neville, Cole, Gerrard, Ferdinand, Terry, Beckham, Lampard, Rooney, Owen, Campbell and Carragher were all in our squad back then!

Anyway, back on topic... I thought Pickford had an assured game last night and I'm sure it will only help further develop him as a player.

Do we really want him to be England's number 1? He's still young and since Seaman it's a role that seems to just grind keepers down until they are a shadow of their former selves.
All it would take is one game losing mistake in the World Cup and the media would do their best to destroy him.Maybe next one when he has four more good seasons behind him.

They're doing the assassination bit now.
Saw a clip on the bbc breakfast news this morning. Besides showing the goal it showed two other snippets.
One saying Jordan Henderson being captain accompanied by an effort that said he went close to scoring. No, he missed the effort!
Then saying Pickford had been handed the gloves for the game, with the rider "but for how long?" showing what could be called an error of judgement.
I'd shed no tears if he didn't make it. He'll be better in four years.

Really need Pickford to cement the position as Englands number 1.

3 reasons;

1 -- Will do him the world of good and wont feel the need to 'move to a more successful team' to get caps.
2 -- Shows other players (and our u21s) that they can get in the England team playing for us
3 -- Increases our global presence...

Now we just need a few more players to get in there...
