We are giving him a chance to turn his life around and forge a career again.
.
All credit to the club for this. If in 12 months he goes off to the championship or league one and has a career after it then good in him. I don't see any issue here.
In fact having him in the youth set up is a stark warning what not committing yourself to it costs you . So the next young lad who comes in thinking he is boss with his money and fame can take one look at Baxter working hard to even have a career now and hopefully think twice

Seriously i think this is a class move by the club to help in the rehabilitation of one of our youth products that perhaps lost his way while still at the club. He may just play in the u23 and then move on the next year or with a chnage of attitude and new desire he may come back and suprise us by fullfilling his original potential. He was a top player in the lower leagues with poor players around him. Just look at mahrez and vardy.

Either he'll earn his place or Unsworth will punt him

I can't imagine he's on much

and either way he will serve as an example to all the younger players that Unsworth can use, either the example of working hard etc can save your career, or that wasting your chance will see you finished no matter the talent you have.

Unsworth isn't a stupid bloke, he knows exactly why he's giving the lad a chance (if you agree or don't thats personal opinion)

I get the Gibson argument like, but I would add that Jose appears to have earned this last chance through his own actions where as Gibson seemingly got his new contract as Martinez's final act of revenge

There is also the matter of some see the situation entirely differently as soon as you get behind the wheel of a car wrecked out your brain as well

Also anyone who deosn't think this has hhappened before at us and at other clubs is bloody niave.

Jeffers for one was brought back the club when everyone and his dog knew he had similar issues - just never got caught in a test

Beat me to it. Exactly what I see in it . Helping out one of our former players.
