The man who’s on $11million a year, with all his backroom staff on a $1million each, is going to be hired by a group that recently fired him & are in charge of a football club with financial difficulties?

File under ridiculous.
Fenerbahce they needed to pay more to get Mourinho's services so that why he is on so much. Wouldn't look into that to much tbh.

Just like Simone is on something like $30 mil a year because that is what he is worth to Atletico Madrid.

The question isn't if he is better than Dyche, because he is. That would be the good news.

The question is can we do better than Jose? Honestly I'm not sure. Jose could be an exciting ride, that either takes us down or back up the table. Don't think we'd be dwelling near the bottom for long either way.

Have a feeling it won't happen, we'll get an average manager and people will be feeling like Jose would have been worth the punt. Gut feel.

I’d be amazed if he didn’t want it. His family is in London, he wants to be back in the English game, a chance to be revered if he won anything.

It’s more whether the Friedkins want him back.

He's right there's no real difference between the 2 managers

This only differences are that Jose has won

3 PL titles
1 FA Cup
4 League cups
2 Champions Leagues
1 Uefa cup
1 Europa league
1 Europa conference league
2 Portuguese titles
2 Serie A titles
1 La Liga title
1 Copa del rey
1 coppa italia
1 Portuguese cup

There's nothing about Mourinhos career that suggests he has any appetite for slogging away in the bottom half of a league on a shoestring budget he was moaning at Tottenham about not being able to compete and the lack of spending so imagine him at Everton, probably trying to get Fenerbache to spend more money.
This for me

Everyone loves to talk about all of his silverware, I mean, OK I get it.

But everyone talking about him being successful "working with what he's got" act like he was challenging for silverware with the same type of slop our squad is.

He has a history of playing pragmatic football with legitimately world class players - that's not hyperbole.

How much more pragmatic would he be with the likes of a 40 year old at right back, Mykolenko on the other side, and Doucoure in the middle of the park?

Look I get it. If the price is right and he had the appetite for it, let him come in and essentially play Dycheball but as a bigger name, which that alone might grind us out a result or two.

But the shouts that he's been successful with a shambles of a club/squad like ours is a stretch

he would prove himeself then wouldn’t he

Doubt we’re paying the next manager anymore than what Dyche is on, so I severely doubt Mourinho is going to take a 6million pay cut minimum, to come to fight relegation in the PL.

Plus, I doubt he’s accepting a job from a group that he said the following about..

"I was ‘eliminated’ by someone who knows little about football".

didn’t he call roman stuff when he got sacked?

Omg, Dyche sacked him?

(That's for all the anti-Dychers, shouts out to you)

Ya just feels of lazy journalism since TFG were linked with taking over that Mourinho has been regularly touted as the next manager

Would he be better than Dyche? Almost certainly

Personally though, that isn't enough for me. "Get Jose in" just smacks of the short termism we've gone through under Moshiri.

I want my club to have a medium to long term plan, I want to have an identity to how we play, I'd like all age groups at Everton to be playing similar football, I'd like recruitment for both players and future management decisions to be based around this plan.

I actually couldn't tell you who I want as manager - For 14 of the current 20 managers in the Premier League, this is their first job as a manager in the PL. We seem to have an absolute obsession with "Premier League experience" for no good reason that I can fathom. What I want is for the alehouse shouts for manager to stop (let's not forget there were fans literally protesting outside Goodison against the appointment of Vitor Perreira and for the appointment of Lampard three years ago) and for the people who own us to employ people empowered to make decisions based on as much data as is available to us.

Mourinho would be better than Dyche. I don't doubt that, but it doesn't solve the problem. We'd simply be kicking the can down the road.

In any case, it isn't happening so I don't need to worry about it too much, but whoever the next appointment is will say a lot about the direction the club is heading in.
