Indeed you are correct, although I was simply suggesting light heartedly that people do not always tell the truth for whatever reason.

However, I'd also question whether if you as a footballer were asked if you were soon to depart stranger would you be honest and say yes?

I'm sure neither club would be pleased with such openness as it may affect negotiations and breach confidentiality. As such he's inclined to say no.
