Surely you can see why a judge should not be making political comments such as this during an individual case?

Seems like he used this case (which may or may not have anything to do with the immigration/welfare abuse issue, i dont know, didnt see enough details in the report) to put over his own political views.

Judges should not do that. Its not so much what he said as aopposed to where and when he said it which is the problem.

I get the separation of powers , but the systems a joke . Anyone who denies that is cuckoo . N.H.S. in the toilet coz we're looking after half the worlds waifs and strays .
Ask McB if they do that in Aus' ??? The answer would be NO !!!

Back to topic - OK for judge to have opinion, not OK for judge to express opinion from the bench. Would definitely be frowned on here but we elect most of our judges based on them having viewpoints and opinions. Are UK judges elected or appointed?
