"Idrissa Gueye is a player for the now. The club know him very well and he knows the club. In terms of the quality as a deeper lying midfielder he gives me a diff profile of player. With James Garner, he is a young player with lots of energy and quality and he will improve us. I think it's a sensible move for us. We have good competition in there as well and that is important over the course of the season."

On the interest around Anthony Gordon: "It never got close to happening and that is great because it has shown where we are coming from and it shows where Anthony is mentally as a player and we move on, we are happy."

"We have Dominic Calvert-Lewin coming back into training, we have Neal Maupay who hasn't played yet, we have Salomon Rondon who is a forward, but I think we had to be careful to not bring someone in for the sake of bringing someone in. I'm very happy with what we have. If you stack up strikers it's not always easy to manage."

I have not read all the comments on this part of the forum so I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I noticed Batshuai is still at Chelsea, I don't think he has been given a number for this season, and although he would not be my first choice, if Chelsea were to release him to save on his wages would that not be an option for a striker for us as a free agent. Just a thought.
