They've already given us €7m in loan fees so at least we've got a bit back at leats. Plus whatever PSG paid us for his season there which I'm guessing was another few million

We loose money over all on the loan fees paid.

We still pay his amortisation and that is 5.6 mill a year. so 11.2 mill for the two years Vs 7 mill.

So we actually make a loss on that aspect.

Ultimately we will clear about £19 million is profit if/when they buy him.

Does seem like they're aware that the book is about to be thrown at them and they've decided to jump off the ship at the first opportunity. What honours have they won in recent years? Will surely be taken away from them. I hope they don't just get a points penalty.

Last time, in 2006, they were stripped of two Serie A titles, relegated to Serie B and handed a 9 point deduction. But now they are repeat offenders - the punishment must be more severe to deter them from doing this a third time, surely?

They only really suffered for a year last time as they won promotion at the first attempt. I would like to see them smacked right down into the lower leagues, but realistically you know it won't happen.

I don't think you pay amortisation, isn't it jjust an accounting term for writing down his value over a period of time?

In real terms money changes hands usually over a three year period depending on the terms of the deal. But that cost doesn’t hit the accounts in one go.

Amortisation is the value of the transfer on the books and is written down evenly over the length of a players contract. It’s a cost to club every year of a players contract.

Why it’s important is it counts as a cost to club every year in our accounts, last year our amortisation was 81 million, our total loss was 120 mill. So it’s a significant part of the clubs expenditure and a cost that often inhibits us singing other players - part of “the wage bill“ as it were.

Yeah, but you said we would be paying the amortisation, which I don't think is right, it is just reducing the book value of an asset.

Paying transfer instalments is a different thing

It’s how the transfer fee is accounted for in the accounts and it’s annual not when the money is paid, the fee is spread out over the length of the contract. It’s a liability and adds to our cost base. All players have a wage cost and amortisation cost every year in our accounts, unless they came from our academy.

Book price is the remaining amortisation to be paid, anything above that is profit.

I suspect this bunch have received their invitation to run the country (Italy) for 10-12 months, very democratic how everyone gets a turn...
