Ipswich are financially very solid and are run in a way that most clubs should envy. If this £10m outlay, which isn’t a problem for the club, helps keep them up then it’s money well spent. I personally think Phillips will need a lot of legs around him and I don’t think the tractor boys have them at the moment. I’m glad we haven’t lobbed £10m at city on the off chance a human being can rekindle his drive and desire to play elite sport in the quickest and most unforgiving league in world football.
