Transfer Rumour Keane Lewis-Potter

That does not mean we were quoted £30m.

That just sounds like posturing from the owner to raise his price.

If after saying that they have sold him for an initial £16m, that looks to be the case.

It's like the link to MGW, initially floated at 20-25 then started being 30m to let him go.

For a lad who had one good season in the championship, isn't in their starting plans, knocked back a new contract and is entering the last two years of his deal.

He'll go for a similar price to Potter in a few weeks max.

Oh I know. But seems to be the price they were throwing about before they agreed something else.

Never know... Brentford could be putting up full 16mill in cash where everyone else (us) would pay like Brighthouse FC

Unless the clubs desperate for cash (Hull aren't) then how the guaranteed money is paid doesn't overly matter mate. Think in Italy they used to like it pretty much all up front before the euro came in as the Italian currency wasn't exactly the most stable.

Cant afford £16m.

Jesus. It’s a dark time for Everton.

Again, how interested where we in reality - if he's third on a list behind ones we think we can get then we'd be stupid to react to Brentfords bid.

Like the player, but is he actually what we 'need' or is he a 'want'.

Ultimately that's the way we need to do business this summer, get the needs then if we have room try get some of the wants in.

Note to self, stop talking like an economist...

I think the landscape has changed the past few years with how ridiculous fees and wages are. So the idea that a club can pay a large sum straight away is more appealing than one that pays more on the drip.

Additionally...it's also the list of suitors.

Leeds don't need the cash for example but are willing to sell Raphinha to Barcelona who will be no doubt paying on the drip but are wanting more up front before it's agreed. Chelsea already had an deal agreed too.
