He's as culpable as anyone.

It's fine that he had a ton of work to do - he absolutely has done. But there's no point appointing coach educators and all that jazz, which is great, unless you're getting in the quality to ensure you can stay in the league.
This. Fast forward to December 2023 and Denise’s Christmas message to fans;

‘Yet more amazing progress’
Kevin has worked tirelessly. He’s now up to point 23 of his 120 point plan. His recently appointed chef meant the tomato soup we had as a starter for the board’s Christmas dinner would be the envy of English football. As Bill rightly said, other board’s say ‘what would Everton do?’ Well I can tell you one thing Bill, they’ll be wanting fresh basil in soup themselves after this delight!
We look forward to Kevin moving on to point 24 by the end of January, which unfortunately means the signing of a striker will have to wait until at least the summer, as that is point 25. Anyway- we’re sure you’ll all agree that the addition of energy saving lightbulbs in the Goodison reception means everything else is worth waiting for.
We look forward to welcoming Rotherham on Boxing Day, hopefully this will mark the start of us moving up the table and away from Preston in the battle for a top half Championship finish. All the best blues, and remember to toast me and Bill for another year of stellar progress in 2023.

Gives us a 5ft8 CF who scored 16 goals in his last 2 seasons combined and our manager decides to play hoof ball up to him.

Time to make a decision Kev lad otherwise you'll cop the flack for the manager not getting a tune oot yer signings.
Gave us the English Messi McNeil
Well rounded and good with both feet
With pace and exceptional dribbling.

Thelwell is a fraud.
Frank and Thelwell got to go

The fact he hired our already failed head of scouting again and still hasn't hired a head of recruitment is extremely worrying given how long hes now been here. Wolves scouting database was effectively just Jorges mates and after then he went to a red bull club who all share their own targets and players. On top of the fact he says he likes to be hands off and not as involved makes it feel like we are just gonna get more Maupays or McNeils that frank has heard of in Jan. Seems like he's more of a hiring manager and organiser than an actual DoF

I think the head of recruitment owns the club.

tbf (and I'm not defending Kopite Kev or the board) but James Vaughan was brought in around September/October to oversee the loans. So maybe he wouldn't have punted him on loan though it was understandable why he was.
This is just to deflect from his enormous failures to sign forwards. It makes me think they have no intention of signing a goalscorer.

Its desperation.

Sometimes decisions made out of desperation work out but usually they don't

would be nice if the club could just be transparent and honest for once and say that coventry asked for too much money, we are skint, we had no choice but to recall simms because its unlikely we are going to find an affordable decent striker in the january window and the only chance of signing a high profile name is to sell someone like pickford, mina, keane, doucoure etc.
