2024/25 Kevin Thelwell

Sounds like Moyes has played a big role in the decision not to renew Thelwell's deal. Looks likely that it will be Newman - the fella who helped him recruit mostly poorly at West Ham. Who will basically just be a head of recruitment and Moyes will be in charge of most things.

Bit of a joke if true.

it will be moyes i think no DOF

i’m happy with it being just moyes

more than happy

….not sure about that, Matty, the game has changed since Moyes went to the likes of Milwall on a Monday night and spotted Tim Cahill. It’s much more global now and Moyes is a lot older.

He’ll have had a good idea of Thelwell before he arrived and that view seems to have been quickly confirmed. I’m sure the owners knew as well. Moyes will need somebody to manage the leg work of recruitment for him but will still be centrally involved in agreeing deals, not forgetting the scope of the DoF role is broader than transfers, contracts etc.

Massive job to do this summer, especially if large numbers of out of contract and loanees are not going to be here.

i’m not saying the game hasn’t changed mate - it’s not worked what so ever us having one.

i mean it may be someone else moyes wants or knows

he’s clearly put it through TFG

and we all said thellwell
and dyche wouldn’t be at BMD nxt season

Not for the long term as we need future planning improvements not just that we see being transfers for the first team. But improved scouting youth team ect list goes on. I think it will be a few appointments thnink be a head scout then will see a dof who is more looking at the structure behind the scenes.

….i think it’s more to do with the right personnel and the right processes more than the DOF model. It appears these owners leave people to get on with the job unless the job isn’t being done properly.

The DOF model is fine but getting the right manager/DOF combination are the hardest appointments in the game and the most important appointments in the game.

Have you ever listened to the amount of crap Carsley comes out with? He hasn’t got a clue
Sure looked great for England u21 and did absolutely fine with the main team too. Ideally I'd like to see him prove himself elsewhere first, The Championship for example and see if he can take a team up.

You're being a bit OTT with your comments there. In fact I find it bizarre.

It's a 2.5 year contract, that's what's been publicised. Don't go looking for holes or something that isn't there.

Moyes's reaction? WTF are you on about? And not visiting the new stadium? I think he answered that. I'm sure he said something about it. I think you're clearly against Moyes I don't know if you are or you're not I couldn't care less, but your views are very misguided and worrying. Considering where we have come from in the last few weeks under Moyes.

As for "these Americans" I think they won't be making things harder for themselves when they've just basically got us on an even keel. I think they've handled things right by getting rid of Dyche and bringing in Moyes. It was the right thing to do. Now that it's done, now's not the time to change manager again.

Clearly Moyes is both relishing the job and enjoying the chance to manage us again I just can't see how replacing him in the summer helps anyone.
I'm open to correction, but we have discussed on here before that nowhere on the club's official social media statements is the duration of the manager's contract. We found this unusual, because apparently this has been standard when we appoint a new boss.

I'm happy for Moyes to continue for another year. He's earned it. I'm simply saying it's not beyond the realms that he goes this summer and that the plan was survival and thanks very much. My view shouldn't "worry" anybody. We're not likely to get to the new stadium anyway if todays's White House farce is anything to go by...
