2024/25 Kevin Thelwell

The reason he's paid £1m a year is because he's supposed to know that somebody like Beto isn't good enough to contribute, and that a £25m albatross around the club's neck is worse than signing nobody.
Ah so if DCL got a serious injury that season which wouldn’t have been completely out of the question. it was better to have nobody on the bench (who cost nothing) than somebody? Would people be coming on to his thread and saying ‘well done Kev’ for keeping our powder dry and not bringing in a striker who was no fee for 12months? Not even someone who could be subbed on for the last 10 to make sure Calvert Lewin wasn’t doing too much too soon?
He is going to be a financial loss, clearly, I think he’s woeful but I’d rather have someone than nobody.

Yes but you have a problem with your hearing don’t you? As borne out in the Lindstrom thread where you misheard Moyes and attributed what he said about the whole team to just applying to Jesper because of confirmation bias.
Come on, list the responsibilities you think a director of football is solely responsible for please. You really have a strange bee in your bonnet over this fella (Presumably you could just step out of the bushes, knock on his window and ask him?), what is it?
He won’t mate because now you’re asking him to apply critical thinking and to back up his argument

Myself…I’m on the fence with Thelwell. Difficult to deal in the operating environment he has, but he’s also signed some duds (I would think more out of desparation like you say). I gave him slightly more leeway than Dyche because even though Dyche was operating in the same environment, we witnesses first hand his poor approach to selection, tactics, coaching and in game management.

Thelwell does a lot more than just first team signings so there is a lot that isn’t obviously visible

the way I see it - if he’s offered a new contract then he must be ok, if he doesn’t get offered a contract then he’s jarg.

Less than 6 months to go (assuming his contract is up in June)
Can’t trust the club like that, we have repeatedly gave contracts to people who don’t deserve them.

How does he justify being here for so many windows and leaving us with the options he has on the wings and in attack? When was the last time we had a player hit double figures? He would not know a good striker if he fell over one, I really hope he leaves in the summer, he’s well out of his depth.

New Owners have been here a month. The Club will (hopefully) be different

He hasn't got the foggiest, hopefully the new owners will have their own man in early.

Again, these are decisions that he's paid a huge amount of money to get right. It doesn't matter what anybody would have wrote on this forum; his job isn't to win personal victories over the fans.

The academy produces players that are as much use as Beto, Chermitti or Maupay have turned out to be, and that's without a combined outlay in excess of £50m. There'll have been other strikers that went for nothing or loan in that time, too.

Two teams have been deducted points for ffp breaches

One is trying to sign a striker for 60 mil

The other is losing their main striker for free in 6 months

Worst director of football ever

Forest have had money to spend, we haven't. It's that simple. Finances should ease for us now following the takeover.

You can't the harrowing reality club's situation, we can post positive NET spends and still be close to breaching PSR. Let that sink in.

We got more money for selling richarlison and Gordon than Forest got for selling Brennan Johnson

We also have been getting loads of money from tv revenue, over 100 mil a season

Forest are a recently promoted side who spent hundreds of millions on about 30 new players in the space of 1-2 seasons

We have money to spend as well.

Explain that
