Ridiculous decision. No recall option.

Well in.
It's not really ridiculous is it though? He's probably going to play 30+ competitive games in a very strong league. How many starts and sub appearances would he get this year with us ? 1 in 4 or 5 games?

He has the chance to play in his preferred position for a season and if he looks a class above he will return a huge asset.

If he doesn't perform he's found his level.

Nothing further...Unsy was given a large pot to buy new players as a reward for last season so will likely stay his hand for now.
It,s my opinion that Unsy wants to see the players he is developing become EVERTON players in the 1st team which runs opposite to the "Quick Fix" approach from Ronald.
Cheers, at some point in next few weeks I'll catch up with my mate who knows some of academy staff very well & see what he knows. I'll post it in the youth teams thread if I find anything out.

If he'd signed Dani Alves then I'd understand not playing Kenny just yet.

But he's signed Cuco Martina to a 3 year deal. A player not good enough for a team below us in the league.

I get that.

Maybe Kenny just isn't up to regular premier league standard, that's all I can guess is the reason.

..Koeman is building a team for now, he's made no secret of that. He said he's got a 3 year contract. He also said SW is looking at the longer-term. Nobody will complain if RK builds a successful team, it's what he aims to do. He clearly feels Dowell will not feature in his team this season. He's not going to cut off his nose to spite his face, if he thought Dowell was better than what he has he'd pick him.

I'm a big fan of Dowell. I'm a big fan of Kenny but the Manager has to do what he thinks is right. If he fails we can criticise.

No question he deserves his own team - it,s a results business as we all know but I hope the board are the safety net for the young players whom if they are loaned out.

This x 1000000

He actually hasn't done anything wrong yet! still the vultures are circling despite the improvements we made last season.

They are so desperate for him to fail it's actually ridiculous.

Totally agree and it's logical.

Koeman obviously has kept a close eye on the youngsters and has been given the run down on the players from Unsy therefore given them pre-season games. If Koeman sends them on loan then he must feel they need a little more experience to see if they can handle a long season and come back stronger. It's not a slight on the players and we can all see that Kenny and Dowell are potentially good players but it is Koeman they have to convince and he must feel they are not quite ready as of yet. We have to respect his decision and feel it's in the interest of the players. If he felt they could do a job presently I have no doubt he would keep them and give them game time. I think Dowell will come back a stronger player after playing in the championship but it's up to Dowell to get his head down and work his nuts off this season as with all loanees.

...I'm reminded of Ian Woan who was a local lad and also a talented left winger at Forest. It'll be interesting watching Forest this season, I think their fans feel the good times are returning and they can push for promotion. Fingers crossed that young Dowell impresses them as much as he's impressed us.

Kenny is ready, Dowell is ready; Koeman is not ready to play them.
Ready for what? Dowelll had an inconsistent year in the U23s, but he's ready to play for Everton? Ahead of who? Rooney, Sigurdsson, Klassen, Mirallas, McCarthy? He's going to feature for Forrest. Totally different environment and pressures playing at that level than in the U23 side.

Kenny doesn't have as many blocking him, but he's in the same boat.

They've got a bunch of talented youngsters in the team already so they should be an exciting watch.
