Kilfoyle's letter on the OS

Am I reading that right?

That Kirkby is really the only option for Everton right now as he sees it?

That's what I thought and why I might have misread what he was saying.

Interesting as Liverpool's stadium has been in limbo for a long amount of time according to what he wrote.

You must remember, for the likes of Kilfoyle all things are set in stone: club ownership, financial climate etc. Therefore, this means there is only ever one solution on the horizon for the club...to go with the suicide mission to Kirkby.

Sounds like he supports Kirkby fully. How are the wheels coming off?

Ask yourself this: if things are going well behind the scenes why is the club putting this on the OS? The city council are being set up here as the fall guys.

I don't think this man is particularly a deep thinker. I notice from the whole tone of his letter, including the insults aimed at Liverpool City Council and the use of "assertion" without an accompanying argument, that this is about "point scoring". Someone holds a grudge, I think.

then again it could be that he is exposing the fact that lcc have failed everton football club and are now raising objections, now that efc have found an option themselves,
maybe his mention of the rs is with the intention of hijacking their plans to utilise stanley park, i think he will have a lot more to say with regard to stanley park and the fact that we were told to never even consider it. m.p.'s work in cloak and dagger ways and will often go on one route with the destination in the opposite direction.
he's saying that kirkby is the only viable option, but also stating that the club have been forced this way due to lcc ignoring their plight whilst kissing the backsides of the rs and giving them just what they want, i wouldnt read it as pro-kirkby just as a way of exposing the council and forcing them to rethink and find a suitable site, this could be the start of a whole new option.

There are only a few politicians that I trust in the slightest, this waste of space is not one(n)

I just read as it as a dig at the Lib-Dem council. I can see DaveK's point about the Official Site publishing it to further enhance the myth that LCC have done nothing.

There's nothing of substance in the letter imo.

Not bad for a man who said Everton leaving Walton would "tear the heart out of the community" back in 2002.

Forget mad as a box of frogs, balloon-headed Kilfoyle's mad words, that's not the issue. The issue here is the club have published this letter on the cusp of a decision coming through. It may well go for them, but I'd have to question why, if things were going their way, they'd choose to publish such a confrontational letter now?

It's either:

a) Kirkby has the go-ahead and they're putting two fingers up to LCC

or

b ) it's being called in and they're lashing out and lining the fall guys up for failure

I must say, that letter took me by surprise.

There is talk of recession almost everywhere. There is also the alleged "Credit crunch". Could not agree more with you BW, what a great time to consider plunging the club into a large amount of debt.

Just reads like a dig at the council with him and his "constituents" embracing the mass development of an area. He's backing the move out of his area (Walton) when you'd think he'd be the 1st to pipe up about it because of loss of money to LCC and Walton (which he says wont), and he says it'll benifit merseyside as a whole.

I do like the part that mentions the shites new stadium in context of the city's reccession. It would make LCC and the city a [Poor language removed] load of cash so LCC will bend over backwards for them to build it.
