Is the siren coming from the industrial estate?

Used to work at Matalan on the Business Park next to a chemical place and we came out to yellow dust on our cars once, **** a brick!

My missus was reading me Facebook chatter from Kirby goons as to what it could be ( it was the estate btw)

" IAN BRADY HAS ESCAPED ASHWORTH"

" THE ASHWORTH OZZY IS ON FIRE"

" ALL THE MENTAL PATIENTS HAVE BROKE PUT AND HAVE SET FIRE TO ASHWORTH"

Brilliantl, that's why i love Kirkby.

Got family in Northwood, ventured down there every year since the old dear s hat me out. Fond memories of the old sport centre and baths.

Brilliant thread this, born and brought up in Walton (rice lane) myself but got the missus up the duff at 17 so ended up in Tower Hill for 3yrs in one of those half empty block of flats (rosebank house late 70s).

Worked at Birds Eye and my boss who lived in Maghull come round to drop off some paperwork and kept his car running while I come out to him! He couldn't get over empty fridges lieing in the road and the amount of boarded up windows.

Hardest place bar none but never thought of it as anything other than a part of Liverpool, good and bad people there like everywhere else.

nothings changed.

My mother, although born in Norris Green, lived in Quarry Green, Kirkby until the age of 3, upon moving to Clubmoor.

So aye, Kirkby is ok by me.

My dad worked at birds eye. The Christmas parties where some, if not my favourite memories in my life.

Grew up there. Dad's side of the family all live there.

Go back when I can like... Only for a few days like.

It is a place devoid of opportunity. Kirkby baths torn down, sports centre torn down, my old school that was huge torn down....

Some great people there. Genuine lovely people who do a lot for the community and lots of mad blues.

But the bellends ruin it. But that's like anywhere in the country.

Can't argue with any of that - particularly agree with the bold.

Had a few funny times up that way.

Got a lift back to huyton on a milkfloat after a night out with a large lady in northwood.

All the football teams where full of head the balls, windy arbour really is the windiest place in the world to play togger and all the boozers are full of people who stare at you when you walk in.

Good place.
