What does he look like? I've forgotten....

"Koné, who made only six goalless appearances for Everton before the injury, was an unused substitute in the Capital One Cup defeat at Swansea City in September but complained of pain during the warm-up at the Liberty Stadium and has since embarked on an extended recovery programme.

Martínez explained: “A chunk of the cartilage has come off in his knee. There is a hole where the cartilage should be and another natural layer is needed to be created to repair that hole. Sometimes that ruptures if you put too much workload on it. Obviously he has been pushing himself so much to get back that he has felt pain and that means it has not healed. That is what has been happening.
“The specialist is very pleased with how the operation went and how the injury is responding. Medicine and football don’t go together – we want him fit and he needs time.

In the past he was hoping the pain would go away and I think it was wrong to assume that. We needed to extend the period between working and recovery to get rid of the pain and we are doing that now. I’m very confident now that, when he is back on the pitch, his knee will be pain free.”

sounds to me like hes done tbh. If hes crocked would we get any money back in insurance or something?

It's really strange how he made the bench for the Swansea game and then just vanished again afterwards.
Feel for the lad...must be one setback after another.
Saw Ryan Taylor the other night after 2 yrs out , you could see the releif in his face.
Can we wait another year ?
Or both parties cut their losses & hope he can continue his career at another club.
Either way feel sorry for the lad.

He's done, end of story.

Still feeling pain in your knee 12 months after having the operation? Sorry, but that means you're crocked. He's over 30 as well, it's not like he's in his early to mid-20s where his body is at its' physical peak. Even if he does somehow eventually manage to get fit enough to physically play again, what sort of state would he been in? Probably a shadow of the player he was, which didn't look anything great itself either.

Time to cut our losses, £40,000-a-week this bloke is on. That would get us 15 goal-a-season striker that would.

Said in the article he felt pain in the warm up before the Swansea game. Bet if he didn't mention it then he would of featured at some point in that game

Problem is a crocked 30 year old on 40k+ a week is hard to shift mate unless we were literally giving him away! None of the club's in our league would take a punt on him imo, our best hope would be a championship side like Fulham or Leeds might be brave enough to take him at a reduced fee say £2 mil but then again would he take a pay cut to championship level?

Either that or we pray a foreign team come in for him which I would doubt

But we have a contractual obligation to pay him for the full 3 years he signed for, unless he agrees to it being waived which if his career is over he would be stupid to accept.

It isn't like the Taarabt situation at QPR where there is a question of his effort to get fit. Kone suffered an unfortunate injury whilst playing for us and by all accounts is doing his very best to get back to health.

Lol, Oviedo broke his leg in 2 places and sill got back before him. I don't even remember what Kone's injury was now.

So 6 million + 40k a week + agent fees we have probably invested 10 million by now in Kone. If he never kicks a ball for Everton again surely insurance must kick in ?
