I openly admit having never seen this lad play but I'm decidedly underwhelmed and a touch frustrated by this signing if it come off. I'm not keen on another loan player boosting our strike force, we need our own striker in, asap. Can't say I'm overjoyed with this but IMWT I suppose.

You're not thinking of the bigger picture though. This guy is there to fill in for Kone. That's it. He'll do for a feew months an put pressure on Lukaku to perform better or in a partnership. This is all while biding time till summer to actually buy our own striker. Relax b)

I understand what your saying but by the time he's settled in and gets to grips with the Prem he will be leaving, I find that a tad wasteful. He may surprise me but can't see this being any more than a filler loan and not a very inspiring one at that.

Striker-wise we start with a clean sheet in the summer. The loan players will go back, possibly Velios will be moved on and Kone will be joined by a couple of new faces...which I expect to be of a very decent quality. But that's the only place we need major change in. The defence looks set fair for next season with Stones development and Baines about to resign. Midfield: I think Barry will stay for sure. We need to move Osman firmly onto the bench as an emergency-only sub (or better still move him out) and a creative cm to join Gibson as cover for/rotation with Barkley. The wings we'll have sorted out when Deulofeu (who has hardly figured, let's face it) goes back to Barcelona: we have Mirallas, McGeady, Pienaar, and maybe someone new in like Ince.

Apart from getting those strikers in, I dont see a great deal of disruption in the summer.

I think we'll look to sign Ince for free and then Bob will be completely happy with the wide men. We need another centre mid who can play attacking mid (or the other way around) and two strikers.

Yep...I suppose the loan market will be used again for some of those needed - we better get used to it, I think.

Its the January transfer window.
Long and Jelavic move for 6m and up.
I don't want to spend that much money on that quality player.
Instead we get a young hotshot with something to prove for 6 months. Its excellent.

In the summer Roberto goes wild with adding permanent strikers.

I think this settling down and getting used to the league is not always applicable to attacking players.

The unknown and unpredictability strikers bring when fresh can catch a lot a team and it sometimes takes team a whilst to figure them out ie: Jelavic, Benteke, Cisse.

Always said we should just buy half of the Barca academy who arent good enough to make their impossibly high standards. ALl know the tactics already and can easily fill into whatever positions we have requirements for.

Wonder if there will be an announcement friday, to build fan excitement for the two games in 4 days?

Not Pienaar I think but Ross hopefully will be there, that way we can leave out Osman. Coleman is still a bit tricky, apparently a soft tissue injury on the hamstring but for me puit Stones at RB.
