Didn't have to turn it down!! Just not sanction the move until another striker was signed. Leaving just Lukaku as our only first team fit striker with games coming thick and fast is poor.

Not really mate. Mirallas played up top regulary for his previous club. Naismith has played up top several times also. Yeah we're short but short enough to not to bite the hand off that's offering upto 7.5M for jelavic??? Don't be silly!!
 

we need to rest Lukaku and play Vellios (have Lukaku on the bench) - play stones at right back. reset what we can for the derby.

Neither have played up front for us, nor in a demanding league. Of course we'll have to play one of them there if needs must, but it's miles away from what a top 4 contender should be.

I'm concerned if the Traore deal hitches due to Falcao's injury, then we'll end up panic buying any old forward.

This has always irked me. Mirallas never played as a central striker for Olympiakos. He played as a wide player in a 4-3-3 cutting in from the left. I have heard this said by many a people on here and don't really get it unless it is just a case of me misunderstanding what people mean by up top?

Naismith was pretty much a winger for Rangers too. It's just not a solid argument to say we don't lack strikers because we have them two.

The implication from loads of posters that we should sign him no matter what is disturbing.
To be fair, we've nicked him of West Ham (whose fans thought he would be unfit until March anyway). I'm not angry that we've taken our time over this. Signing a crock on loan at a cost of millions is stupid.
