I don't think the MLS would call a press conference to announce Donovan's signing if they didn't plan on keeping him. It would be pretty sleezy to season ticket holders, but then again this is the MLS.

I'd love to get Holden, again who would be an inexpensive buy. If Holden was say in the Croatian League he would be considered the next big thing and there would be a 8-12M bidding war for him.

I agree with you that a permanent transfer in March is very unlikely. LA know that they can't sell season tickets if Donovan and Beckham are away until after the world cup (season starts end of March) and they will have a riot on their hands if they reneg. However, I do think there's a decent chance Donovan has negotiated himself a fixed buyout price in his contract and could make a permanent move after the world cup (when Beckham returns) or maybe this time next year.

Holden is out of contract, so he would come free and with very low wages by Premiership standards. He's got great potential as a traditional winger who is a gifted crosser of the ball. But I think he'll take half a season to settle. Blackburn and Rangers are rumored to be looking at him. I think whoever signs him now probably doesn't see dividends until next season.

Don't be ashamed of the Bulls just because of 2009. Remember 2008? It's not like you're perennial basement-dwellers. Is Angel sticking around? Plus all the rumors are Thierry Henry will end up in a RBNY kit sometime in the near future. Trust me when I say the other MLS teams are jealous of that. Heck, as a Seattle fan I'd love to just have his hand on my team.

Everton kits sales went way up after the MLS All-star game. (Everton & EPL fans take note!).

I'm actually very curious as to how the Brits here view the MLS All-star game. I know it's kind of cheezy in a Pro-Bowl manner, but it really is for publicity & "spreading the word", as it were. You probably don't realize how many new American fans you pick up from games like that. PLUS you guys have the distinction of being the first EPL squad to beat the "MLS Best" in quite a while...... It's a nice distinction, even if it means nothing really.

This is why I brought up Holden in the first place. He can be bought for literally a couple of pounds.... In the EPL scale, he is CHEAP. He's also one of our Nat players and is scoping out Scotland and some other Euro sides. The only skin off Everton's back would be a roster spot, that's it. Although I will say I'd rather him go somewhere that he'll be a regular starter, and I'd agree that I don't see him unseating what you have now out at winger. I still think he could get up to EPL speed pretty quick for some team though. Hull could definitely use him, maybe then they'd have a mid that could send a proper service to Altidore already. :lol:

I forgot about the Allstar game. Which would make sense as to why they are on backorder. I did want to ask Why is the special Limited Everton Jersey Purple?
What number will Donovan be and when can he start to practice?

The purple shirt is in honour of the Liverpool Unites charity. It's supposed to be a mixture of Liverpool red and Everton blue, showing solidarity as a city supporting our disadvantaged youngsters. A very good cause.

Landon is #10 on the Galaxy, #21 on the USMNT.

Arteta is 10 so that isn't available, and 21 is claimed by Osman. Don't know how the Brits handle number conflicts, but I'd assume they'd just give him a completely new number.

What position do you expect him to play in?
 
He will be given a squad number. Unless he wants to fight me and Mikel for number 10, I will scratch his eyes out if he so much as looks at Arteta in a funny way.
