Word. We actually use all the same words you do, but like so many other words, they are interchangeable and because we Americans can never have enough, we had to associate that other word..... "roster"We always say squad for the squad. The actual team is usually either the team or the side, or at a push the lineup or the XI. You would get away with roster in some sports because of the US influence, but not really in soccerball.
Thanks for sharing this with me though. I'm going to start saying "roster" all over this place to generate some "haha look at that stupid yank" laughs.
Fairly sure they hate Mexico mate. Or is it just Mexico hate America and America is all like "wuttt, chill down dawg".
Hehe. I've noticed everyone has their prejudices, you know? It also largely depends what part of the country you live. Floridians get sick of Cubans & Haitians, Californians & Washingtonians get tired of the Asians, Texas, Arizona, New Mex, etc. get tired of the Messicans. (Oh yeah, we call them "Messicans" up here, making fun of their accent when they say it. ) Sorry Chico, easy jab. My best friend is Mexican, and I get a ton of great Mexican jokes almost daily. Here's today's:In order of hate:
1. Italy
2. Mexico
Haha, right on! I like your analysis.DEFENCE DEFENCE DEFENCE when you're defending and such
oh and another one, you put GO in front of any team you happen to be supporting at the time. Examples: GO Everton! or GO USA!
And remember football is now soccer
Rugby is now called football, but they wear big pads take more steroids and throw the ball forwards instead of backwards
Netball is called basketball, but guys play it. oh and they bounce the ball
almost forgot, rounders is baseball. Only americans play it and they use a bigger bat, for some reason it's called a world series! in fact all american sports that are played only by americans are actually world championships I think steroids are also a must in this sport too
You got the steroids wrong though. The sport where players are fatter & use less muscle, baseball, is where the steroid use is rampant. the NFL doesn't have steroids, but they love their HGH!
And did you know that the Limeys coined the term "soccer?" Or at least that is what I was told long ago... We just thought it was such a great idea and ran with it!
See, this is the "DE-FENCE, DE-FENCE!" thing that maddison was talking about.
Don't ask me why on Earth people dress like that and make those signs. I think it's retarded. Oh, and I'm a Miami Dolphins fan.
We know that we suck at it.what do americans know about soccer?
You laugh, but our women's soccer team beat yours.dont only girls play it over there ?
our rugby lads would flatten your gridiron lads.
Actually isn't our women's team ranked #1 in the world currently? I think they just beat Germany in the final match in October or something.
Gridiron players aren't pansies by any stretch - don't let the pads fool you. These guys are like human physical specimens. Low body fat but heavy weight and huge size. As someone who's played both sports, I can say that Rugby's tough in it's own right - but I wouldn't say a Rugby player is tougher, or a better athlete than an NFL player.
