Last Film You Watched

Done a few in over the weekend.

Just finished John Wick 2. Quite enjoyed the first one despite my longstanding issue with Reeves, it was a decent revenge flick and at least grounded. Sequel is absolute twaddle, builds a ridiculous mythology and disappears up it's own fundament. Tediously violent and oddly dated, feels like a film from 20 years ago.

Previous to that was The Miseducation of Cameron Post. Hit Girl grows up, starts hitting on girls, gets sent to bible thumping gay conversion school. Was okay, kinda predictable though.

Started off with The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Laughed way more than I likely should of done at people getting knocked off in rather tragic ways. Bloody excellent film.

Once upon a time in hollywood...

Was pretty long but ok...

The ending though sucked me in just as i expected the real story to be told...

The whole cinema was either shocked or laughing

I laughed my head off...

Still though, its making light of an awful real crime...which didnt sit easy.

Went to Mrs Lowry and Son last night, fantastic performance's from Vanessa Redgrave and Timothy Spall, well worth seeing if you like a drama.
As it's about them and she was an old invalid so most of it set in her bed room, a lot of talking, you only see him painting briefly. The setting dressing are brilliant with period furnature...etc
I seen it in New Brigjton, dont think many cinemas have picked it up.

On Netflix, comic book based character, average at best, you can sit and watch the bullets fly and not engage the brain, not being into the whole comic genre I didnt know what to expect, after watching it I feel they wasted what could have been a decent character 4 or 5 out of ten

I went last week, I like The Light , comfy seats and plenty of leg room.

Re-watched Tolkien on DVD yesterday and I think much the same as I did when I saw it at the cinema. Its a really nice film telling a well done story with some great acting and It's not to long either.

I can see however why Tolkien's family disapproved of the film. Some of the story is over-dramitised as you'd expect and they choose to almost entirely ignore how important Tolkien's faith was to his life, I understand why they did it but in an autobiographical film they should of at least give it some mild attention.

Mild criticism aside, I'd still defiantly recommend this film to anyone who's a Tolkien fan or someone just looking for a nice film with a pleasant change of pace from the usual Hollywood film.

Into the spiderverse
After many mentions on here I thought I would give it a watch.
Yeah, as good as others have said, animation second to none. Nice story and the action set pieces were incredible, the feeling of speed is terrific. 8/10 would deffo reccomend. Also clocked the blade runner sequel.....again. still amazing . A 2 hour eye candy extravaganza. Truly excellent effects, some of the best yet seen, the story was a nice continuation from the first......and those cgi / practical effects...wow.
