Last Film You Watched

Just watched 88 minutes, crime thriller with Pacino solving a murder, not great, seen much better thrillers many times including ones with Pacino in.
As someone who dislikes the trend of films getting longer, I was bitterly disappointed to discover that this film ran closer to 2 hrs than the snappy running time its title heavily implied. In any case, it sounds like it doesn't score very highly on Al's hoo-ah!-ometer.

Watched this over the weekend-
12 Strong.

Based on a true story, 12 American Special Forces soldiers are dropped deep into Afghanistan to assist an Afghani warlord and his tribe in fighting against Al Qaeda post 9/11.

Despite a stellar cast it goes for the “ gung ho “ patriotic approach, which makes it seem flat. Which is a shame as it doesn’t do justice to their incredible bravery.

The battle scenes are amazing though.

I watched it and thought, meh...americans, riding horses into battle whilst hip-firing semi-automatic weapons! I enjoyed Kajaki a whole lot more (gives a totally different view of the war in Afghanistan) and well worth a watch if you've not seen it.

It would`ve been much better if they`d have left out all the " gee ain`t it great to be an American bollox " and kept it as it was, as their bravery was without question.

Is Kajaki on Netflix ?

Hi mate - It's on netflix in the US so if you have a VPN you should be able to watch it. Other than that you could stream it on any movie streaming app

What Did Jack Do?

It's a David Lynch short film, just 17 minutes, and the synopsis goes "In a locked down train station, a homicide detective conducts an interview with a tormented monkey."

Couple of lines had me laughing for the content and one for Lynch's mad delivery. Absolutely no idea if this is meant to be funny, insightful, acerbic or just Lynch seeing what he can get away with and still pass off as a film but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Presumably not about him being a genocidal maniac and killing millions through famine then?

The opposite. He smiles proudly at a black man after taking the tube to show he's a 'man of the people' and was solely responsible for not negotiating a surrender with Germany ahead of the Dunkirk evacuation.

Loved it a 17 minute acid trip,Lynch produced one of the few films I found disturbing with Eraserhead
