Last Film You Watched

Okay, so at the end, "the ritual" turned from Blair Witch Project to Jaegermeister-Predator. It went from slow-burn scary to all-caps, in-your-face monster-stuff. Not a great ending, but watchable if you're not paying 100% attention.
As per usual, the book is much better. Although tbh I don't think you could make a faithful version as the book is really dark and f'ed up, especially:
when he gets out of the forest, which afair is completely different in the book.

The film took away the supernatural element that was the whole premise of the book and this is what massively lets the film down,

It`s a film that is crying out to be remade and to be done properly, as per the book.

Watched X the Unknown and Curse of the Werewolf, 2 early hammer films on Prime right now.
X the Unknown is similar to The Blob (Steve McQueen) and Quatermass, good 50s sci fi.
Curse Of The Werewolf is interesting, years ago it was considered blasphemous to have a baby on Christmas day and turning into a werewolf was believed to be a punishment for competing with Jesus Christ, so unlike the idea of being bitten this film used that theme.

I had a similar experience with that. Felt like someone wrote 2/3 of a good film and then couldn't be arsed putting the same effort into the ending.

As Above, So Below was pretty similar in that regard. Great build up and then an ending that suggested the writer had just had enough.

It`s quite simple, they strayed from the supernatural " spirit of the forest monster" in the book and turned it into a physical monster for the film, which let the whole thing down.

The book packed much more impact than the film and was very unsettling.

Watched a movie tonight and have no idea how to rate it. Obviously a lower budget movie but it had an original plot line and thought the main actors were pretty good in it. Some of it felt weird in spots tho. Called "Come True" which, now in retrospect, is a weird name because nothing about that connects to the movie nor makes sense as a standalone.
