Last Film You Watched

Rewatching Eggers movies this week, ahead of going to see Nosferatu in the new year.

The VVitch last night - A masterpiece IMO.
The Lighthouse tonight.

He’s definitely one of the masters of slow burning creepy films.

I normally wouldn't watch a film in olde English, but as you say The Witch was fantastic and really got under my skin.

One of those rare, decent Netflix movies.

Nothing special but very competent.

Watched it last night.

I like the boy Taron, but he was a bit meh, overall a decent if totally unforgettable film.

Gave me intial Phonebooth vibes which is a bit of a guilty pleasure, I've enjoyed Colin Farrell's rise to fame over the last decade (although Martin McDonagh's screenwriting had a huge say in that).

Sames for Taron, Kingsman was such a boss, unexpected movie.
His turn in Blackbird was also superb.

Spent a lazy afternoon watching the cheerful 1984. BBC version from 1954, starring Peter Cushing. A chilling story that feels more relevant as time marches on.

Was very low quality sound and picture quality, even accounting for the age. Came with a rather amusing warning beforehand, about the horrors that are about to follow. Even had an interval.

Did however capture the mood of the book, and was very well acted.

Finally gave The Holdovers a watch and I think it will be a yearly Christmas watch for me. Giamatti gets the applause and rightfully so but I think Dominic Sessa delivered an excellent performance. Also, I don't think there's a better setting for a Christmas movie than a cozy New England town.
