Last Film You Watched

The missus jokes that for about 4 months after I tried to watch this my entire personality was based around how much I hated this film.

Neither of us could finish it. We tried to watch it for about 20 minutes and finally one of us looked at the other and was like please don't make me do any more of this.

It was horrifically bad. Not even comically bad b/c there was nothing funny about it. It was like what a 9 year old might think was cool if he did acid.

It was absolutely unwatchable

It`s like they awarded all the awards it got, as some kind of sick revenge on someone in the industry.

If I`d have gone to the cinema to see it, I`d have walked out and I`ve never done that in my entire life.

Easily one of the worst films I`ve ever seen in my life.

Same with me, man. I NEVER stop a movie or leave a movie midway through. Especially one that's up for awards.

That's how bad this movie was

Is very odd, and likely not for everyone. There’s not a lot in the way of plot or narrative, but is more just hanging out with these weird characters.
In the manner of Clerks or Napolean Dynamite or something?

Clerks and Napoleon Dynamite are definitely great hang-out movies. A kind of loose sub-genre in and of itself where it's more about spending a couple of hours with the characters and the plot is pretty much inconsequential.

I'd put The Big Lebowski and Withnail & I into the mix.

Watched Clerks and it's sequels, Jay & Silent Bob (even the horrifically bad 'Reboot') and Dogma but for some reason have never got round to Mallrats or Chasing Amy.

Will have to rectify that and add Little Miss Sunshine to the list. That list is getting awfully long.
You've paid your due's with some codswallop.

Mallrats
Chasing Amy
Little miss sunshine

That's a solid afternoons worth of laughs. There's been a lot of negativity over EEAAO above. Give 'Kung Fu Hustle' a go. The Citizen Kane of cartoon comedy.

LOL. An American treasure. Acting god capable of doing Con Air, National Treasure and Longlegs. A giant of cinema
So conflicted right now.

Mallrats is a great shout. Feel like most of Kevin Smiths films fall into this category. Likewise the Coens and Tarantino. There's not so much a plot or story, just a bunch of stuff that happened to some people over a (usually short) period of time.

People forget that when Clerks came out, it was an absolute game changer. The dialogue was incredible. And on zero budget - Kevin Smith had to film where he worked IIRC

Nightmare Alley - Film4 last night.

Despite the stellar cast and being directed by Guillermo del Torro, it didn’t do it for me.

It was like a film in three parts :

First part excellent.
Middle part flat and uninteresting.
Final part picked up, but not enough to rescue the film.

They could’ve easily cut thirty mins off the running time and it’d have made no difference.

Beautiful sets and cinematography though.
