Last Film You Watched

You sir are a Philistine, to describe the film that has been voted the most scary film of all time as - " too long / slow " beggars belief. You should read the book and then watch the film, it will help you appreciate the things that make this film a classic piece of film making.
Well, first of all it wasn't scary at all and Nicholson's character seems crazy from the start so it's not like it's a surprise when he turns. I have heard that it's not a very truthful representation of the book so I don't see the point of reading that and I certainly won't based on how much I enjoyed the film. There were some cool shots though, and I liked the cinematography. Just couldn't really get into it more than that though

Each to their own mate , the film is probably as true representation as they could do in relation into his decent into madness. A lot of the book is about Jack Torrance fighting with his own inner demons - alcoholism, the mental scars left by an abusive father and the collapse of his life due drink. Read the book and make your own mind up.

I know it's not a new film, but I watched "The Pursuit Of Happyness" yesterday on Sky Movies, not exactly a piece of light entertainment, but an amazing film, based on a true story, very sad and inspirational

I think I'd probably like it better on a rewatch. Usually helps when I know exactly what kind of movie to expect. Didn't love Blade Runner the first time I saw it either because it was just not what I expected, and now that is my favorite film. It probably didn't help that copied a lot since it's release. I'm sure it would have been more effective had I not seen a bunch of other movies that came since. However, I find something like The Excorcist to be much creepier and that has been done to death too in parodies and what not.

They obviously left the father thing out then. Like I said, for me Torrance felt crazy right from the start so it was just a bit of a drag until he goes after them. The kid doing the voice of Tony was not to my liking, to put it mildly, and the wife actress wasn't very good imo. In fact, she looked pretty ridiculous at times. The filmmaking itself I have no problems with really in terms of composition and that stuff. The shot with the blood, or I assumed it was meant to be blood, coming out of the elevator.. Anything in the maze and the helicopter footage were all great stuff. I also liked the stuff in the bar, with the guy from Blade Runner as the bartender Loyd.

Forrest Gump with her last night.

Still a brilliant movie. Not as perfect as some would make our but a brilliant harmless movie with a good message.

Extra point for incredible soundtrack.

4 Championship Belts out of 5

Pain & Gain - surprisingly good given Wahlberg (can be hit and miss) and The Rock (Films are usually poop) were the stars.

American Sniper - Was good but I don't get all the fuss, preferred Pain & Gain.
