Black Angel
Back in 1980, George Lucas wanted a film to play with Empire Strikes Back in the UK and ended up commissioning then art director Roger Christian to make it. Christian, who had set-directed Star Wars, and art-directed both Alien and Monty Python’s The Life Of Brian, made the short film in Scotland and titled it Black Angel. The film is a swords-and-sorcery tale of a knight traversing a plague-stricken land with many elements of dream imagery and mythical archetypes woven throughout.

Always will be, Alien+Aliens & Terminator+Terminator 2 = Best original and sequel Sci-Fi movies ever made, they'll take some beating.

Well said! I also might want to add Predator & Predator 2 to that list. I know someone here gave a shout out to Predator 2 as an underrated movie a couple of pages ago and I fully agree.

I just saw an old favorite of mine the other night, "Big Trouble in Little China." God bless cable's need for 24 hour programming!

Ex Machina decent enough film

Ex Machina, been waiting, and it was worth it, original and the best film I've seen this year easy.

Thought the film was excellent, but let down by a badly gash ending, which you could see coming a mile off. Maybe one eye on a sequal.

On a side note - Alicia Vikander who played the robot is an absolute stunner !.

Has anybody on here seen Primer?
Watched it about ten times and I still don't understand it but I find in intriguing each time

Yep, mind bending stuff, I loved that line after they've time travelled and one of the guys says "I'm starving, I haven't eaten since tomorrow afternoon.."

Not seen Primer but seen his other film, Upstream Colour. Again, makes no sense but it looks and sounds really nice.

Upstream Colour was my favourite film of the year, never seen anything like it, absolutely extraordinary cinema but I could understand it would wind some people up no end.

I ended up enjoying it. For the first chunk I was trying to work out to narrative, to the point where I looked online to help. Once I found out it is intentionally loose i relaxed more and enjoyed it. Think i'd enjoy more on a 2nd viewing, which i may well do.

On subject of film of the year, have you seen Mommy? Far and away my film of this year. The soundtrack includes Dido, Celine Dion, Eiffel 65 and Oasis and it all somehow works perfectly. The use of Lana Del Rey in the last scene is amazing but I won't post it incase you want to see it!

Think you are being a little harsh on the ending, and as you say, it is left wide open for a sequel, if that was the purpose of the ending.

And that Fassbender is on Vikander, he gets everywhere that jammy £$%*!
