we are clearly already thinking nothing of the 17m we spent this winter, or the 20m we spent during the summer, or the 36m we spent the summer before that...

Obviously its increased with the TV money as expected, but are we going to start throwing about £50m around a summer without blinking an eye, its an odd thought given the many years of sell to buy.

i wish we were wise enough to judge transfer policy based on the quality of the player we brought in rather than the price. not to single anybody out, but it seems like a lot of us would actually be happier if we'd spent 15m for Deulofeu, 8m for Besic, Galloway, etc, 20m for Stones, because this would somehow convey that we were "trying" that much harder

Just been covered on Look North West, mentioned possibly months rather than weeks. At least it's getting more coverage.

....again no business acumen from me but @The Esk indicated that buyers would be on the first plane over to tie up a deal. Perhaps the timescales being mentioned indicates other options are being considered.

Mad how he's been looking for years and happens to find a buyer when he's ill

Mad that
What amazing luck. 17 years and no one has been buying football clubs. Aside from Aston Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle, Liverpool (twice), Manchester United, Manchester City, Fulham, QPR, Bolton, West Ham, Portsmouth, Derby, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City, and Arsenal, not a single English football club has been taken over in that time span, if you don't include Southampton, Reading, Stoke City, Hull City, Leeds United, Bournemouth, and Watford. And now as if by divine miracle a buyer appears in our hour of greatest need. We truly are blessed.

I am not saying it can't happen, but it would be unusual for them to just want to come in and sell our best players for a profit.

Generally American owners look to see the bigger picture. Namely having a side in the premier league season in season out will generate significant profits and exposure. Firstling one summer will get them a big investment initially but could go disastrously. It would be a big risk.

I hope it's not a leveraged buy out. Has anyone seen anything to suggest as much? If Kenwright agreed to that he should be rightly hounded out.

I suspect any ground move/development will be leveraged into the debt. While not perfect I don't think this is unreasonable. If the numbers are scrutinised properly and with low interest rates you could probably someway service the debt and pay back the cost over a 40 year period from increased revenues.

What amazing luck. 17 years and no one has been buying football clubs. Aside from Aston Villa (about to be relegated), Sunderland (about to be relegated), Newcastle (relegated + mike ashley), Liverpool (twice) (burned in effigy, hicks + gillette, 35m for andy carrol, 25m per signing and still worse than us), Manchester United (imposed hundreds of millions of debt), Manchester City, Fulham (relegated, could go down to league one), QPR (relegated, massive debt, horrible transfer policy, manager carousel), Bolton (bankrupt, about to be relegated to league one), West Ham, Portsmouth (league two, traded between criminals), Derby, Birmingham City (owner in prison for fraud), Blackburn Rovers (relegated + players in indian chicken ads), Cardiff City (relegated + changed kit colours), and Arsenal, not a single English football club has been taken over in that time span, if you don't include Southampton (sell the best players every year), Reading (relegated), Stoke City, Hull City (relegated + "tigers" rawwwwwr), Leeds United (goes without saying at this point no?), Bournemouth, and Watford. And now as if by divine miracle a buyer appears in our hour of greatest need. We truly are blessed.

and of those, how many would you prefer to have owned Everton?
