I never said they did, I just said it could be worse. The only assets you've told me we sold is land and the training ground. So other then the stadium, players, brand etc what else could we possibly own? We are a football club, we aren't some hedge fund with masses of holdings

Dont forget the snazzy lawnmowers - we own them! (I think)

If you see the grounds staff rocking up to work with their own Flymo trim and edge in hand - then we are screwed!

Like I said, Bolton have more assets, Clubs these days tend to own land, buildings etc.

We have sold off everything we can, apart from the players.

I didn't suggest not listening to them. I suggested not doing things just because they say so. Football polarises. Ultimately you must do what you think is best without being swayed too far from the ideal.

On the second point. I'm not denying a law exists. But we ALL know that it's a nonsense. I know personally of a guy who's collapsed 15-20 companies in the last 10 years and either liquidated or sold them all in his best interests. Nobodies knocking on his door..

But the Everton Shareholders Association has knocked on the door not even afforded an answer by the chairman, and now we have the quite preposterous suggestion that Keith Harris has been despatched to the USA to continue the negotiations. Here's an article on Harris, and people are wondering why some of us are concerned?

And the stadium. We've sold off land and a training ground mate, it's hardly a fire sale

If these yanks did what Bill did, you and others would go mad.

We sold off rights to all we can, sold our main land and property holdings, that's a fact, no matter how you paint it up.

My only concern is that they don't care for the club as much as Kenwright apparently did.

Look at Kenwright who came out publicly and put the foot down on the Stones transfer saga.

We need folks at the top who won't accept every offer over £35m for our best players. We need a board that will invest in the future by turning down transfer fees in favour of a long term project. Hopefully this new lot will but into our future and won't look to make money immediately.

John Henry did that with Suarez the summer Arsenal wanted him

Cant think of a a single club that has benefited from an American buyer or that has American owners that is doing well

Villa now finished
Sunderland going nowhere apart from maybe down
Palace and Bournmouth not really big enough to judge
Liverpool haven't moved on at all and the yanks seem to be doing more to alienate the fan base then anything else. Yes the spend big but they always have and with the money that club makes its no wonder, but the yanks don't seem to have done anything to move the club forward. There have been talk of a new ground for years but that didn't come off instead all they did was build a new stand, o and the first lot we're hounded out.
United going backwards although that was maybe as much to do with bad management and the resignation of Furguson but the the yellow and green scarf wearing fan base have never been happy with them.
Arsenal, all that money they make and have in the bank but when do they ever go out and buy a top world class player for big money? They really should of won the league more then they have and done better in Europe, got a great new stadium and nowt in the cabinet to show for it.

This is just off the top of my head but -

Bournemouth; have just built a new training complex, broke there transfer record and are currently competing in the top division for the first time in about 30 years.

Palace; Are currently drawing up plans to build a new stadium/redevelop selhurst park & have become an established Premier League club. Infact when they attracted investment not so long ago most blues were kicking off that it was them & not us.

Sunderland; the season before last had one of the best shirt sponsorship deals in the league and have had about £250 million invested in them by Ellis Short.

Liverpool; were on the verge of administration when FSG took over, they've backed there managers in the transfer market and are currently re-developing Anfield. Not to mention sponsorship deals with Warrior/New Balance (worth potentially £300 million) and Standard Chartered (£30 million per season).

Man United; are unique in that they relied heavily on Ferguson & haven't been able to replicate the success they had since he's left. Regardless, the Glazers have invested heavily in the squad, Fergusons replacements (sacking Moyes, getting Van Gaal, Mourinho won't be cheap), they've increased the capacity at Old Trafford and recently signed a sponsorship deal with Adidas worth £750 million.

In fairness, Bolton are screwed and are probably heavily insolvent so they may have more assets but a helluva lot more liabilities.
Are HMRC still pursuing the winding up order this month?

Depends what rumours you believe, as it is today rumoured the Americans or their reps are over here

No, they have been given time.

They have been screwed over by local owners and so called fans of the club.

That scenario is laughable. You're just fear mongering and anyone ignorant would probably take the bait. You don't build value by strip mining and selling your best assets on the field. Yeah's let's sell Everton's best players for a fraction of the value that you will destroy when your team gets relegated. That would be utter stupidity. Moores is hands-off when it comes to how the team is managed on the sports operations side. He hires smart people and let them run the team. In this case, my bet is that he'll evaluate RM and if RM shows that he has a long-term vision for success and silver-ware he'll let RM make those decisions.

When Moores acquired the Padres in 1995, just 3 years later he greenlit/approved the offseason trades to acquire all-stars and MVPs Ken Caminiti and Steve Finley to go with home grown core of Tony Gwynn, Andy Ashby and Trevor Hoffman. The Padres traded for All Star Greg Vaughn and arguably the best pitcher Kevin Brown in 1998 when it was clear the team had a solid foundation to compete for a championship and go deep in the playoffs. The underdog Padres finished top of their division and won the National League and lost in the World Series championship final that year.

The reason why he was able to get spectacular returns wasn't just timing, the Padres as an organization increased their intrinsic value with better infrastructure, a better television deal, better marketing and a team with more of a history of success in the decade before he sold the team than in the previous 20 years combined. If Moores just sat there and did nothing he'd be reviled. Some fans were scorned and hated Moores because he abruptly sold the team and disappeared - but when you understand that his hand was forced by his ex-wife in a bitter divorce where she wanted half of everything he owned you can understand why he had to sell the team.

Lucky for him that he didn't marry a scouse bird. He'd be lucky to have enough left to buy Accrington Stanley.
