Anyone on here watch this?

Not the best of starts to the season for Leeds but a pretty good match. Fair play to Derby, they were the better team and they dominated, but Schmiechel looks like a quality goalie and we didn't roll over for them at all. The atmopshere looked great, seemed like a good old fashioned Elland Road match. We've got Forest away next week, not expecting much from that but as long as we keep that fighting spirit it should be another good 'un.

Kasper was quality. Have you signed him permanently? I always wanted us to get him, but as the commentators said, he needed games, not sat on a bench, which he may have here behind Howard. I was suprised on how good Derby were

It was a pretty open game, good atmosphere although I thought there would be more there considering it was the season opener. I enjoyed it and got5/2 on Derby winning.

Made Saturday evening telly bearable, quality match - Robbie Savage was comical in the post match interview, he will stride brilliantly into 5Live life after he retires.

Kasper Schmeichel is a fantastic keeper, too good for Leeds perhaps. I'd say he's good enough for certain Prem teams.

There may not be many on here who agree with me, but I'd like to see Leeds back in the top flight. :)

We looked a bit shoddy up front because of the absence of two people, one of them is injured from pre-season, the other doesn't even play for us any more and is instead with a certain team who play in blue and are from NW England...:P

I think it will take us a while to adapt. Derby have been yo-yoing for years and anyone who thought it would be easy today, well, they need to check facts, even if we haven't lost on the first day for 20+ years until today, and Derby rarely beat us at Elland Road. Forest away will be even harder to tackle IMO, they were at the top of the table most of last season and I reckon they will be again. Then after that there's Millwall, were our rivals for promotion in League One and will be fired up for it.

Basically, as is always the case with Leeds, I'm in for one hell of a ride.(y)

I watched this. Intended to just watch for a few minutes, but the game was so entertaining that I watched the whole thing. I'll be interested to see more from Leeds especially when Snodgrass returns.

I know a little (but only a little) about Leeds from a supporter I know, and the whole history of the team is interesting to me -- I'm American so the whole idea of relegation and promotion is still kind of new to me. I can't imagine how heartbreaking it must have been to drop down to League One. Knowing a little about the history between the two teams was also interesting. I know Leeds supporters can be intense but wow, the people at Elland Road today were loud! Really, I've rarely seen anything like it.

I have to say, Schmeichel is absolutely class and Leeds have done well to sign him. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on him in the future. He made several truly wondrous saves and the game could easily have ended 3-1 or 4-1 I felt.

I wonder how Leeds supporters feel about their chances in general? Staying up, going down, promotion even? I don't know enough about the team to expect anything, but I'd get a kick out of seeing them in the Premier League for sure. I watched a few of their FA Cup games last season and I was really impressed with Beckford there so I was really pleased when we signed him -- I think he'll do well for us. The other player that made an impression on me in those games was Robert Snodgrass and he's injured now so we'll see what happens with that I guess.

Anyway, I usually don't really follow the Championship, but that was truly a great match so I had to give my two cents.

Cheers mate, good to see we're heard of across the pond and by the sounds of it, even have a few fans!(y)

It was heartbreaking and I'm glad we're getting away from that. Three years after reaching the Champion's League semi finals we get relegated to the Championship, three years after that we get relegated again. Seeing top players like Smithy and Rio and Kewell sign for clubs who our fans hate. Not been pleasant.

As for promotion. I doubt anything will happen this season but next season I hope to see us squeeze into the playoffs. Generally the feeling is very mixed, some think we'll make the playoffs, others think we'll be in a relegation scrap, I personally think we'll end up mid-table. Doesn't sound too exciting but as it's Leeds we're talking about here, there's always bound to be a few twists in the tale.:D

I think we have got ourselves a star in Schmiechel. Some of our fans were a bit dubious at first, what with him being the son of a Man United legend, but by the looks of things he can do his job incredibly well. That double save he made yesterday...my heart skipped a beat.

From the looks of it Beckford has rose to the challenge of being in a Premiership side and I think his doubters (both Everton and Leeds fans) could be in for a few pleasant surprises. And yeah, Beckford carried us through that little FA Cup run, the winner against Man United, the equaliser against Spurs. I already miss him.

On it's day Elland Road has one of the best atmospheres in English football. Sounds biased, I know, but I've been to both Anfield and St James Park which are also famed for their crowds and some days I've been to ER has topped when I went to either.

Oh man, when you guys beat Man United (of all teams!) in the FA Cup game.. that was brilliant. And then in the draw against Tottenham, I was watching just waiting for them to score at the end, and then there was that foul at the last minute and the goal from the penalty kick.. It was great. I was disappointed to see your FA Cup run end.

I feel like there are so many teams who have gone up and then down and up again etc. that I have a lot to learn about league history. I guess the teams that were in the Premier League when I first went to England (2008-09 season) will always be stuck in my head as 'the Premier League teams' even though it changes every year.

I watched The Damned United a little while ago cos I was curious about the history and I thought it was interesting but I'd like to learn more. In the film they portrayed Don Revie as this super wonderful guy and Brian Clough as pretty much evil so it was kind of shocking (and sad) to see the epilogue bit where they said that Revie failed as England manager and Brian Clough went on to great success etc. etc.

I hope you guys manage to hang on to Schmeichel for a while as he looked pretty fantastic. I didn't know about his father till I heard the commentators mention it but that must be some conflict of emotions for you all!

I see you're playing in the first round of the Carling Cup this week, I might give it a look if I can find anywhere to watch but I guess there's no way most of your games will be on American TV.

I'd really like to go to Elland Road someday and see the atmosphere for myself :) I have a lot of respect for you guys as a team especially with all your recent setbacks and I hope you do manage to advance to the Premier League sooner rather than later. Good luck this season!

That match against Man United just summed up Leeds in 90 minutes - expect the unexpected. Because you really cannot predict how we'll do, we're so inconsistent. I think the whole city of Leeds was expecting a huge turn over but we showed that we're still around, and I'm proud of the way our lads played that day. Not just the result, but Beckford ran rings around the Man United defence.

It was actually Revie they portrayed as the villain and Clough who was portrayed as the hero.(y) But a lot of teams hate. Basically dating back to when Revie was our manager and our players acted like thugs on the pitch. Before my time of course, but we had players like Bremner and Giles who would kick opponents. "Dirty Leeds", we were called.

We have Lincoln City, which should be easy. I hope to draw Everton in the League or FA Cup this season at home, to watch Beckford get the hero's welcome.b) You never know, could happen. It does have great atmosphere, does ER, we have supporters who are fiercely loyal to the club, much like Everton do.

Ha, did we watch the same film? To me Brian Clough came off as having serious issues. It was like the whole film was about this rivalry and this horrible offense that didn't exist to anyone but him. It was all summed up in that interview at the end where Clough confronted Revie and it all just came tumbling down and Revie came off as perfectly normal and quite nice whereas Clough looked kind of insane. I don't know how accurate that all was to life, but that was what I got out of the film.

Also I thought Michael Sheen's accent in the film was a bit dodgy but I'm no expert on that either, so.

The film alluded to Leeds' playing tactics at the time but didn't really go into it, I'd like to read more about that, but I guess it's a film not a documentary so they have to focus on the characters and whatnot.

When do they do the FA Cup draw, do you know? Leeds/Everton would be entertaining for sure :) Do you think people are pleased that Beckford's gone on to Everton? I mean, I'm assuming you all would have been happier if he'd stayed, but if he had to leave, surely Everton was a decent outcome in that whole situation?
