Ha, did we watch the same film? To me Brian Clough came off as having serious issues. It was like the whole film was about this rivalry and this horrible offense that didn't exist to anyone but him. It was all summed up in that interview at the end where Clough confronted Revie and it all just came tumbling down and Revie came off as perfectly normal and quite nice whereas Clough looked kind of insane. I don't know how accurate that all was to life, but that was what I got out of the film.

Also I thought Michael Sheen's accent in the film was a bit dodgy but I'm no expert on that either, so.

The film alluded to Leeds' playing tactics at the time but didn't really go into it, I'd like to read more about that, but I guess it's a film not a documentary so they have to focus on the characters and whatnot.

When do they do the FA Cup draw, do you know? Leeds/Everton would be entertaining for sure :) Do you think people are pleased that Beckford's gone on to Everton? I mean, I'm assuming you all would have been happier if he'd stayed, but if he had to leave, surely Everton was a decent outcome in that whole situation?

To each their own. I thought they portrayed Revie, Giles, Bremner et al as villainous characters.

We are a team rich in history and I'm proud. There are many sites out there detailing our rollercoaster of existence, but I think Wiki is good at summing it up in a nutshell.(y) It's good to see someone speak positive about Leeds as well, haha, although most people on here are very welcoming as we can't be more hated than Liverpool or Man City on here! Even Neville, who supports Man United, our fiercest rivals, I've had some good discussions with, with the mandatory banter of course!

Not sure when the FA Cup draw is. I think most people are happy for him, I know I am, don't know if the attitude would be the same if he hadn't scored that winner against Bristol though! In the third half of last season he kinda went AWOL, allegedly due to ego-fuelled tantrums, though I can trust Moyes into making sure that doesn't happen at Goodison! But anyway, Becchio, a very underrated striker and my favourite player for Leeds, had to step up whilst Beckford went missing, and that briefly turned people against him.

Hi ROL

Really enjoyed the match, you'll be fine in that league, no bother.

I've seen the Dammed United also and like you, it did make out Revie to be a bit of a snide and Clough the hero. Great film though. Have to admit, i did think it was a touch of genius when Nigel Clough parked the Derby coach 200 yards from the ground and made the players walk to Elland Rd, ala Revie at Derby all thos years ago and in the film.

As i say though, great match, definatly had that 70s football feel to it

Hmmm, my perspective seems to be in the minority with this film, I wonder what I missed? Is it being an American or just being new(ish) to English football?

It's funny, when my Leeds supporter friend was explaining about the rivalry with Man U I was dumbfounded as Leeds were two leagues below them at the moment. Then I read up on some of the stuff that had happened between the two teams over the years. Relegation still seems so odd to me, we don't do that in America and I can't imagine all the suffering people would have gone through if we had it. I remember the first time I saw it actually happen, was watching Match of the Day at the end of the 2008/09 season and some team had lost and were going down and they showed all these suicidal-looking fans crying and stuff in the stands. Then they showed a game where some team had been promoted, everyone was going mental jumping around, smiling, I don't think I've seen people that happy ever! Crazy.

Anyway. Becchio scored on Saturday didn't he? I hope you'll post more about Leeds during the season, I'd like to catch some more games myself and I'll be interested to see how they do.

Was anyone else laughing at Robbie Savage's girly hairstyle? Looked like Beckham from a few years back..

Watched that flick a few weeks ago. I got the same impression on Clough as fadedhour, though Bremner did come off as a real ******.

Also Republic Of Leodensia: how do the Leeds fans rate Grella? I rarely hear anything about him here in the States though recently Yanks Abroad did a small piece on his desire for increased playtime. Thoughts?

I heard that Nigel wasn't allowed in the Leeds boardroom cos he was wearing a tracksuit and they wouldn't let his young lad walk around the pitch - some wounds remain too deep (although in reality it was probably that moron Bates). NC watched the match from the television gantry as a form of protest.

Hm, maybe it is an American thing.

Just looked on the BBC web site and Leeds have scored 2 goals inside of ten minutes! Well done.

Actually, I just saw that Lincoln City are in League Two, so whatever. But I'll still be pleased to see a win.

Our rivalry with Man United was huge, definitely up there with their rivalries with Liverpool and Man City. Ask Neville on here for another perspective on it, he'll probably tell you that it was really intense when we played each other frequently, the match in January was the first match against them in six years but it used to be one of the biggest matches in the Premier League.

We have little derbies against all the Yorkshire teams such as Bradford, Hull, Barnsley, Donny and the two Sheffield clubs, and our rivalry with Millwall has heated up in recent years, but ask any Leeds fan and they'll all say they consider Man United to be their biggest rivals.

Relegation and promotion is what makes the lower leagues so interesting. It's everyone's for the taking. With the Premier League you know who will finish in the top spots but the Championship's champions and runners up is anyone's guess.

Indeed, Becchio equalised moments after Hulse's opener on Saturday. I have a sneaky feeling that he will be our top goalscorer this season, of course I have yet to see Paynter but it's just a hunch I have.

Cheers mate, I have no doubt that we'll stay up but I can't see promotion unfortunately. That was a genius move by Clough, nice little nod to the past rivalry between Leeds and Derby.[/QUOTE]

Most Leeds fans I've spoken to about him feel the same way as me, he's a very underrated and never gets played enough. It was nice to see him make an appearence on Saturday but it's obvious our starting two strikers will be Becchio and Paynter.

Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if it was Bates being a bad meff, that just sounded petty and childish, not to mention very rich as he used to be chairman of Chelsea, a club who many Leeds fans consider to be the biggest rivals behind Man United.

4-0, not bad even if it is only Lincoln City. Hoping to draw Everton in the second round.(y)
