...Ball, Wilson and Southall definitely.

Labone, Sharp worthy of mention and without doubt ahead of Duncan Ferguson (who wouldn’t really be on my list). Please no Duncan McKenzie.
I agree there 100% - how Duncan Ferguson was classed as a Legend is beyond me like him as a player, but his disciplinary record, and his goals scored ratio were a detriment to his play a very good no 9 - I seen clips of him up in Scotland , and he had the makings of a Legend no doubts,..... trouble just followed him everywhere - a great talisman for us that's all...., but never a Legend - Duncan Mackenzie as a player was too short lived too.....

...you and I are fortunate, Joey, to have seen so many greats. I suppose the likes of Ferguson was the only idol subsequent fans have had, but I wouldn’t even put him in the same bracket as Tim Cahill.

....I have awful memories of Lyons being thrown up front. I appreciate he tried hard, but he really wasn’t very good in my opinion.

He wasnt but played in a lean era for the club. Ractliffe is a legend but i dont think he was the best player either. His pace covered a lot of errors.
Mick would run through brick walls in a blue shirt. A lot of appearences and quite a few goals for a centre half.
Not many from the billy bingham and gordon lee era will make it.

Struggling to think of many from 70s to early 80s,Latchford is the only one I would class as good enough to maybe be included

I think Ferguson’s popularity was more to do with period we were in and the way the fans related to him.
He was my fave player at the time, it all depends how people define a legend. There will be players who weren’t popular who have probably won more trophies at Everton than those deemed ‘legends’.

Id pretty much agree, its more a favourite player/beacon in the darker parts of our history,Duncan and Cahill arent legends but they gave some hope to younger supporters at the time, the like of Power,Harper,Richardson done as much and won more but dont get mentioned simply because they were parts of a brilliant squad

Look I stated at the time Duncan was a great Talisman for us loved by all - compare his stats with our other great no 9s - Dixie -Sharpy -Joe Royle there's no comparison on the goals chart - Ferguson if we had him as a youngster wow what a he would have been - also he transferred away, and came back sadly injured never the same player who left us , but like you I loved him , but imo never a legend that stats tell you that......

Ray Wilson with the World Cup would be good.
In my reckoning we had world class players - Dixie Dean { the stats say that and his memoirs} TG Jones ahead of his time as a footballer centre back - Alan Ball me perpetual motion world class Box to box midfielder with tremedous skill linking up with Colin Harvey and Howard Kendall - then the best left back ever at the club Ramon Wilson ........
then in Goal world class Big Nev...... the rest over the years named were great players....

Tommy Lawton, Joe Mercer, Dave Hickson, Ted Sager as back up to Southall, if Tim Cahill is there then I would have Dobbo also, Bob Latchford, Joe Royle, The Trinity, Peter Reid, Ratcliffe, Sheedy. It is hard to select and is down to opinions but Big Dunc shouldn't be there IMO. Ray Wilson and a toss up between Tommy wright/Seamus and Gary Stevens.

What a great picture of Mick...and what a kit.

totally agree. There are players like Alan Harper & Kevin Richardson who's role in our past are greatly underplayed. Both slotted in & contributed to winning pots but rarely get a mention but Ferguson & Cahill are deemed legends. As for Lukaku, to be fair to the lad if he had a different attitude then he should have been more thought of as his record was very good

The early years are all but forgotten. For the magnificent moustache alone, Andrew Hannah, the captain of the first league title in 1890/1 (nit picking, not at Goodison). Also captained the RS, but we'll forgive him.
