Leicester-The Worst Reigning Champions Ever?

It would definitely be funny, although I have nothing against them either. When was the last time the Champions got relegated, anywhere in the world?

City were champions in 1937, relegated in 1938 and Everton were champions in 1939.
Long odds, I know, but....

Exactly mate, a very very long time ago. Hasn't happened in a major league in the modern era.

Of course, that happened long before big money spoiled the game and let a handful of clubs dominate in almost every major league. Still, if Leicester do go down, I'd whack a decent sum on us being champions next season. The omen is there.

When the unthinkable happends and some team like Leicester wins the league ....you really should think carefully what to do....
You could argue that maybe they should have cashed in BIG TIME by selling practically all of their stars and invest heavily into infra and such. Now they are dealing with unhappy players who feel that they really should have pushed for the move when iron was hot. Now they are in danger of sliding into the Mordor.

I wonder just how arsed their fans would be if they went down.

I mean obviously they'd be gutted. But last season was unreal. Unbelievable. Never happen again type stuff.

Really they may as well liquidate now as they're never going to be that good ever again.

I wonder how many of their fans have realized this and maybe lost a little bit of passion for the club?

When my hometown NFL team finally won the Super Bowl after being cack for my entire childhood, I found it very hard to care as much after that. I still support them of course, but the fire isn't there anymore.

I don't get that attitude at all tbh. I could never lose my passion for Everton ever, under any circumstances. If we won the Premier League, Champion's League, FA Cup and League Cup all in the same season I'd still get the buzz first day of next season like I always do. My Grandad followed the Blues all his life and actually got to see Dixie Dean play and he always said that was his favourite time as an Evertonian but he kept on going until 2005 just before he passed away. I probably come over a bit Sanctimonious but I can't understand how you could possibly lose your passion for your club.

I don't think fandom runs nearly as deep in American sports as it does there. But I can relate to the "this is as good as it can possibly get" feeling that some Leicester fans might have had after last season.

I can understand why they might feel that way but you've gotta keep chasing the dream. They probably never thought they'd ever win a league title or play in the champions league ect but just the taste of it should make you want more or at least aspire to having another moment like that.

Clearly quite a lot of people feel as some Leicester fans do now because I know a few Man City lad who enjoyed the days of struggle more then now, obviously they were delighted to win the Premier League twice and the cups but they say it just isn't the same anymore.

Where you from? New Orleans?

I understand that feeling. Like if Usmanov somehow came to Everton and we started grabbing up £50M players left and right, eventually we'd win but maybe it wouldn't be as satisfying as if we had struggled our way to the top over time. Probably some longtime Chelsea fans feel the same way.
