A sad day, and he'll be missed, not just as a player but as exactly the sort of character you want in the dressing room and around the training ground. We're not exactly overburdened with good honest pros at the moment, so it's a great pity, but I've enjoyed watching him over the years. Good luck to him in his next steps.

He’s still good enough to play for us but if anything this sums up his style. He’s decided to call it a day on his own terms but I hope he stays as a coach.

One of my favourite players ever, at times he was good enough to play for anyone.

This lot of players don’t deserve to play alongside him.

Only player I would say is an absolute legend, best player I have seen wear the shirt.

For years our left side was really our only hope in attack and it was all because of him. Cahill, Fellaini, and Lukaku benefited tremendously from those balls in the box. Makes today a lot sadder, really upset I can't watch him play live again. He still had it in him too

He was brilliant, got to say thanks for the fee kicks Leighton, they were superb, I was livky enough to experience some of them live. The hush that falls over the crowd beforehand and the explosion afterwards is something else, tbe two in one game against West ham is just classic Baines.

An all-time great Everton left back. One of the very best in the world in his postion at his peak. Feel a bit glum that he's hanging up his boots tbh, but glad he's not signing for anyone else.
