We’ll all miss him when he’s gone though won’t we? Horrible how he’s another Evertonian who’s going to leave without winning a single thing.
So true that last bit mate, 20 plus years of being run as a club who do enough to get by and stay mid table. Hopefully the next crop of Everton players coming through who stay more than 10 years can go away with a couple of winners medals.

The lad is 33 and injury prone. Ask him to leave in the summer. We aren’t a retirement home. He should actually do the decent thing and retire.

Always respect him for the brilliant player he was in his prime, but it’s flogging a dead horse now.

This is what is funny about evertonians. We all expect loyalty from players and stamp our feet when they show none such as Barkley and Rooney. Then when Baines showed loyalty and did not kick up a fuss when United wanted him you want to kick him out off the club asap. Come on we can't have it both ways. He showed us massive respect when he stayed and we should show him the same back instead of trying to shove him out the door just because he has had a injury

Still has a job to do. He will be a great role model for a younger left back next season, and hopefully this season if we get our finger out and sign someone.

So we should look after him when he is surplus to requirements? That isn’t how football works. He is paid handsomely to play for us. The man is 33 years old and getting injury after injury, he should bow out with a bit of dignity.

Everton are a club that has always kept players well past their sell by date.

I think we will sign a new first choice lb in the summer the latest. Baines will stay on as competition/back-up next season. Has 1 1/2 left in his contract. Will probably retire in 2019.

Remember Roberto wanted him to play defensive midfield and we got beat against Newcastle.

Didn’t think it was the worst idea because Barry converted from LB to DM plus get rid of Besic and Schneiderlin AND Gana delaying his new contract.

Baines’ biggest assist was pace which has seemed to have gone (but he runs faster then everyone on this forum) so a positional change and potential cover as left back, will see him out of his contract.

He has been outstanding for Everton as has Jagelka so give them a testimonial this year and either ship them out or offer coaching roles

I think we should move him on in the summer but not in such a brutal manner. He could do a job for his old club Wigan and we will have to pay his wages if he stays so if we give him a pay off to cover the pay cut that's us playing fair by him. He's not at a level fitness or form wise that I would even consider him a decent back up anymore. We need 2 new left backs in the summer.

Not having this whatsoever. If I started under performing at my job I'd be shown the door by my boss. You look around society, people with families to feed are kicked to the curb as soon as they become surplus to requirements and you're worried about a multi million pound footballer?

It's this exact attitude which has turned us into a mediocre club. Jobs for the boys with the likes of Tony Hibbert staying 5 years beyond he is sell by date.
