Leroy Fer

OfFer fox ache, stunning.

I love the way our major transfers come out of the blue with no media build-up, makes all the waiting more worthwhile. Though presumably the club have announced it now so that it comes from them first, as any delay would mean it would have come out through the media. Hopefully the medical and terms will be OK but it sounds 95% done.

Just what the squad needed at the minute - a major boost by signing a quality player. Feeling a lot more confident about achieving something this season now as we have begun to look a bit tired in recent weeks.

More firepower upfront next please.

I emailed a Dutch mate today(Utrecht & Chelsea fan), asking about this fella as I'd never heard of him. This was his reply:

"Wow wow wow. Fer has been instrumental in getting Twente back to the top of the Eredivisie. He's only 23 and has been probably been their best midfielder over the last 18 months, the club needs the money to balance the books as they banked on a Douglas transfer earlier this season.

He's a great signing, like you say, and will probably take over from Fellaini in midfield, strong head and legs, thinks before he passes, does not stop running, ever. at £7m it's another shrewd piece of business by Moyes/Everton. He's easily worth £12m in my book. Also been called up to the NL team for the Italy game"

To which I jokingly replied, 'Is he better than Jordan Henderson?'

I got:

"Think more Clarence Seedorf/Edgar Davids
At less than half price, yes. Personable bloke as well. Has hir career path well thought out. Forced through a transfer from Feyenoord to Twente (step up) and 18 months later leaves them for Everton (PL is a big step up for anyone) whilst Twente got a ROI of 50%.

My guess is he'll do well, his handling speed, strength fitness all seem to be tailor made for the PL. Time will tell"

Sounds like we got a good'un! :)

Well, he may be on his way with Leroy Fer then. Fer took a private plain from Rotterdam Airport to Liverpool this afternoon so maybe Royston is showing him around town before Fer is negotiating with Everton tomorrow morning.

Oh christ
