Mr @GrandOldTeam can you talk to me about Gifs, I would imagine they are a pain in the anus for you, but does the "system" have some sort of "upload limit", I mean, when I try and post a gif such as this :

ross-barkley-goal-newcastle-vs-everton.gif


Why does it not "upload"?

Any help is very welcome.

you're not daft, your brain just can't be arsed to learn it. i've always been like that with grammar: still don't know the difference between a noun, verb, adjective and the rest.

It's been explained to me a million times...one of them's a doing word, one's a thing word, don't remember what all the other ones are supposed to do...my brain just refuses to save this information. Fortunately through excessive reading when young i somehow managed to learn to write anyway, sort of by recognising the context of how the words were used. Unfortunately i've no chance of teaching English as a foreign language, which i hear can be a nice little earner if living abroard.

Only the "upload a file" option can guarantee we keep the image on here, for the original file is loaded on to the GOT server. This is where things like upload-limits come into question.

What follows is dull, but will explain why Danny gets stressed about gifs

Regardless of whether a gif is linked or attached the xenforo s/w we use takes a copy of the gif and puts it on our proxy server, where it stays until it ages out. So pages with gifs them in, especially large gifs or multiple gifs stress our proxy server and slow down the drawing of a page.

Why the gifs are copied to the proxy server in the first place beats me, but there you go
