Bear with me......
Not everyone’s favourite player, or team but Man City are undoubtedly the best team in the land with a work rate that shames other sides.
Now back to Sterling, I remember watching this guy, I think a few years ago and he was in his own corner flag, like a terrier and won the ball back against someone who was probably twice his height and weight.
This is exactly what I want to talk about - some fight and battling qualities. Sterling is a bit over 5 foot and looks like your gran could know him over but his opta stats I am pretty sure would embarrass 80-90% of Everton players.
I am not going to spend my time actually checking the opta stats but for assists, shots at goal are probably part of the package of a 60-million-point elite player but then there are dribbles, interceptions, tackles, work rate and aggression and other bits that any decent player getting 100 grand a week should be able to muster up training at some world class facilities like FF.
Right? well clearly not. I think its fundamentally what is wrong with Everton - there are some peaks where players do exceptionally but more often than not, they retreat back into that shell of mundane and so and so with performances than flatter to deceive - year after year – the same old, no real consistency.
I am sure Sterling has some dog’s dinner of games where he is thinking of his next tattoo, exotic holiday or next half million sports car but unlike Everton players its few and far between and over the course of seasons his statistics are very well rated and not just him but pretty much all the City players - Its the work ethic that is drilled into them.
Finch Farm is amazing, I was lucky to be there - really, it’s a facility that is among the best in the land so players have no excuse and its why I am rightly annoyed with all the dead wood content to sit out contracts getting over 100 grand a week for their 'efforts'
Everton need at least 6 players IMO to be competitive, the backbone of the squad is three but more players are needed ASAP - if the below players are still in contract in the summer PAY THEM OFF and let them go.
Gbamin - no he won’t ever play, let’s not kid ourselves
Coleman - a great servant but we need a new wing back - our main attacking outlet of late seems to be Digne which says it all really
Delph - say no more
Sigs - ditto, you need to put more blood sweat and tears into the shirt than swing in a few crosses la
Bernard - rubbish
Iwobi - ……..
To anyone who says I am a bit harsh, I have every right to be harsh this is Everton – up until the 80s or so one of the most successful clubs in the country but now without a single trophy since 1995 and now Leicester with no disrespect look to be a far better side despite winningly hardly nothing compared to Everton.
So, yes, I have every right to be annoyed as well as Moshiri himself I should imagine with his 400 or 500 Million outlay since he put his pockets into the team.
So, let’s talk about Sterling.
read it again, he is basically a light weight midget - however he works very hard and actually wins the ball and creates things on the field - he is a good example of what is wrong with Everton.
Looks like you are another fan in denial at all the deadwood passengers - I was having a go at Delph on FB and some 'fan' (apparently) said he was fine and doesn't deserve all this bashing!! sure he he fine - he is a massive contribution to the midfield engine room. Anyone who thinks Delph is fine is short of not just a few brain cells but an entire one.
Everton players are content to sit back and someone said about Tom Davies recently, a very good point actually - that they passed him the ball as they couldn't drive it up field themselves or make something happen so they just let Tom take the blame.
Too many passengers, deadwood and its curtailing any progress the club needs to make
Sterling is world class until he has time to think when in front of the goal.Sterling is a brilliant footballer who would be world class if he improves his finishing
Not sure what he has to do with Everton though
Sterling is world class until he has time to think when in front of the goal.
He is an extremely frustrating player to watch. Constantly running into dead ends
with the ball. Guardiola has improved him hugely since he came but I get the feeling
he has gone as far as he can. As a City fan if a huge offer came in for him from a
big European club I'd be happy to let him go.
Send us £125m - £150m and you can have him...Feel free to send him our way lol
good to see the city fan base are as difficult to please and as unrealistic as us!Send us £125m - £150m and you can have him...
watThis was a racist trap of a thread that hasn’t worked out as planned isn’t it.
I concur, however his opta stats shame pretty much every Everton player over the last 2 or 3 years - for someone a little over 5 foot tall.I think he's a bit of a tit.
