Lewis Holtby

He was proper mad-for-it evertonian before this transfer window, think his agents had a say and pointed him in Arsenals direction.

“It would be a massive move [to Arsenal] because Arsenal players were always my favourite. They play nice one-touch football, they’re offensive, have young players, a great stadium and a great city so it is a nice club."

Everton has young players, a great stadium, and a great city! If Holtby became our new Pienaar we could play nice one-touch football as well! XD

A creative player is our priority right now and if we do end up selling a player then Holtby should be number one on our list.

Listened to the interview live earlier and it was pretty decent. Spoke really well for such a young player and it was obvious he has admiration for the Prem and England. Seems more likely to be in favour of a move to Arsenal, and to be fair, even with their general ****e the last few years, he's more likely to win something there than he is at Goodison.

Would love him here though, exactly the player we need - fast, skillfull and versatile. If we've got any chance it'll be in this window, because if he stays at Schalke and has another good half season, he'll be off to a bigger (richer) club in January no doubt. Only got a year left on his contract, so he might even see it out before leaving, but can't see him costing more than €10,000,000. From the sound of this interview and others, he wold only really consider playing for 2 English teams at the moment (obviously unless City/Chelski come in and give him £100k + a week) - us and The Arse. Unfortunatley, seems at the moment we're loosing the race.

If we could scrape together any where near £8-10 mil, we need to be looking at him.

Is he really any good, ive tried to watch him a few times and he doesnt look all that tbh.

I watched him in a few Bundesliga games and he played really well. He was brilliant last season on loan at Mochenblachen or whatever they're called. He came on as a sub against Bilbao in the Europa league and looked decent, created a goal but then faded a bit when Bilbao scored. Great potential though, and still only 21. Give him 2-3 years playing regularly in the prem and he could be class. Think the Bundesliga is the league most similar to ours so he should fit right in.

If we could sign him up on a 4-5 year deal this summer, give him 2/3 years to show what he can do, and flog him for loads if he's awesome. It's a gamble, but it could be worth it.

I listened to the interview too, the guy actually mentioned Everton before Arsenal but that tw@t presenter only wanted to talk about Arsenal and pretty much made it the "Holtby wants to join Arsenal" story they ran with for the next hour.
it certainly WASNT balanced journalism but hey - its talksport.

Yeh but that's what you've to expect, the 'bigger' clubs get more attention. Even if we'd have finished 3rd last season and Arsenal 7th, they'd have still linked him to Arsenal. It's the way things work unfortunatley, although he did seem to be more in favour of a move to London, but who wouldn't. Like I said, think we've only got this window to get him. If he stays in Germany, he'll go in Januay or leave for free next summer, perfect for Arsenal cos' they're as tight as.

He's a evertonian... Would imagine he knows as much as the rest of u that we can't afford him!

Would rather us spend money on him than Dempsey tbf. Being alot younger and versatile. No doubt a big player needs to go for us to get him.

Interview went something like

Holtby: "My two favourite English teams are Everton and Arsenal"

interviewer: "so you'd love to join Arsenal that's a good exclusive we'll run with that
