07.30 GMT:Lewis Holtby's move from Schalke to Tottenham could be completed before the summer if the sides can agree on a transfer fee, reported to be in the region of £1.6 million. Horst Heldt, the Schalke sporting director, said: "If Tottenham ask for Holtby in the January window, we will talk to them about it. Nothing has happened yet, but, from our point of view, we are prepared to speak to them. It would have to be done quickly, because we would have to find a replacement for him."

can someone in the know enlighten me why we haven't gone in for him? Or why we wouldn't want him? He's mentioned us as a club he admires, he wouldn't break the bank (unless his wage demands are unsustainable) and he looks a decent player. Genuine question - don't know much more than I've read about him on here TBH. :confused2:

That may be the case but it doesn't answer the actual question I asked though does it? Unless you have anything more to go on than speculation - like I said I was looking for some enlightenment. Read about him admiring Arsenal and his Dad being a blue but not about Spurs before now.

Have some Lockets here though if it helps...

Schalke are trying to sell Holtby in January so they can at least get some money for him, and the Express believes that means Holtby could move to Everton – the side he supported as a boy."

Oh no!!!

If we couldn't do a deal when he was free, we'v no chance if I costs some penny's haha...

If we'd already done the deal I'd fully expect spurs to come in and steal him from us. We won't do that tho...we have no financial power to do the same.
