I'll trust the opinion of David Moyes over AVB or Levy. You don't see people gushing over Lewis Holtby tbh, and if he was that good why did it take him being 6 months from his contract expiring to get a proper offer ? And why was the eventual purchase price just 1.5m ?

Perhaps he's just not that good.

We've just signed an £8m player who is apparently worth a lot more, and some people feel the need to ask why we didn't sign Lewis bloody Holtby. It's a joke, if he hadn't come out with that one throwaway line about his dad being a blue then none of this crap would have ever been discussed.

The Bundesliga is a far stronger league than the dutch league, other than that they both have very similar abilities, experience and goals ratio. I trust in Moyes too, it's impossible not too as his track record is so good. But I do have the nagging feeling we missed an opportunity here. For the small asking price we need not have given up on Fer either.

Holtby looked quite decent in the Bundesliga, and I think he'll do well at Spurs. I hope Fer will do even better for us!

Now that the £8m player in question has been proven to be worth a lot less (so much less the deal's off), I feel the need to ask again: why didn't we sign Lewis Holtby?
