Just started the match again... going to watch out for Davies first half contribution.. for the record that Pickford punch of the cross at 9 mins was key too... always wondered why keepers don’t do that more..

I gave Jordan Pickford man of the match. Didn't put a foot wrong. The Henderson strike could have turned the game. Couple of brilliant saves from Mane and Salah as well. Defence was outstanding. It's totally obvious why Carlo went to a back 3/5, man on Firmino, Salah and Mane, with flexibility to go 4 at the back either side. Every Liverpool attack went from the centre to the side and with 5 at the back, that made it easier to defend.

Another thing, is Tiago meant to be good? If Liverpool are supposed to be this 'heavy metal' team, Tiago is a lullaby, he slows them down. He doesn't hurt anyone and just moves the ball around mostly sideways. Go right ahead and do that when you're 1-0/2-0 down. Maybe he's a good tackler, but didn't see it when they had a lot of the ball. Tom Davies was a much more effective player than Tiago.

Also only desperate teams that lack confidence start flopping around trying to win pens. That's a worrying sign for them. Another difference and not meant to criticise Liverpool just because we won one match, but Everton has tried to played based on what players were out on the pitch. But Liverpool still trying to play mostly the same way even with different players. Thought that was an interesting contrast.

My most sincere congratulations to you all on this magnificent occasion - may it be a prelude to decades of similar!

PS. And also thanks to the 2 good hearted Everton supporters who helped me change my tyre after the game 3 years ago, when I last visited on a match day. You were absolute gentlemen and it helped me rebalance my view about people from the area - those in blue are definitely the good ‘uns!
Erm!

Three things reflecting today.

Firstly klopp's 'look at me, I'm a great motivator because I am talking to the team on the pitch even though I've just had 15 minutes with them in the changing rooms' fell flat on its face.

Second thing that fell flat on its face was having st virgil there for the cameras. You just know that the pre-planned 'spontaneous' team huddle in front of him if they scored would have been lapped up for years to come by the media.

Third thing I don't think this will be spoken of as any particular player's derby (like the Carsley derby, kanchelskis derby etc.) which just speaks volumes about how assured a team performance it was rather than won by a moment of brilliance.
