There was absolutely no rationale for playimng that song last night other than they wanted to make some big statement on Ukraine 'without being political'...and they could easily have done that with Lennon's Imagine...AND they wanted to make sure the council's 'brand' - LFC - was given a massive push.

Rememeber a few years back when Liverpool FC tried to prevent the whole city - council, vendors, voluntary and charity bodies - from using the city's own logo of the Liver Bird....then they get given a free commercial for their 'kin dirge by the c ity they tried to rob of their own identity.

Unfortunately most of those people at the event and at the pier head have never heard of us or where we come from. That’s all down to how pathetic we have become.

Quite besides the fact that every PL club is world-renowned by virtue of the fact it's the hottest property around and watched by billions - a global media event each and every week, Everton have a massive history that most people know about if they're at all interested in sports...whatever sports.
