Liverpool v Newcastle

Who do you want to win the hypothetical League Cup?

A very popular misconception that he supports us
Speaking in 2016, Howe, now firmly embedded with a black-and-white persuasion, opened up about his childhood loyalties. He said: “I remember my first football being one of those plastic ones which had all the names of the Division One teams in it. You would spot them all and I was an Everton fan growing up, so I would always look for them when I picked up the ball.
“I was a passionate Everton fan as a kid. I lived near Watford. Born in Amersham, raised in Chesham, so I used to watch Watford. Watford were playing in the 1984 Cup final, so I turned it on being a Watford fan, and then watched the game and there was just something that said I have to support the blue team.

“It was the kit, the name... and that was it. I was hooked. That inspired my following of them and I followed them ever since. When I moved to Bournemouth, when I was 10, I went to watch them being my local team. Watford, Everton, Bournemouth, they were the teams.”

Oh I know and I doubt it happens. But they could still implode and even just losing the next 2 for example, and Arsenal winning them both, all of a sudden gets their nerves sky high. (And it’s not out the realms of possibility that us and Fulham manage to get points off them etc).
I mean I’d absolutely love it obviously but even a point a game from here on in would probably be enough, it would be an absolutely unprecedented implosion for them to not even manage that after only losing once in the first 3/4 of the season.

I’ve totally accepted them winning it. Just a couple of losses in next 2/3 games and their heads will totally fall off. Would be great to watch.

It's just not going to happen realistically. As has been said, even if Liverpool were to completely implode to a spectacular extent it would need Arsenal to pretty much win every game and they've shown nothing to suggest they have that in their locker, they haven't won more than 3 in a row all season.

That's probably where I am. I could see a Liverpool implosion, they lost about 8 points in a week last season, and look done at the moment. They're a bit of a strange team. Taking my blue tinted glasses sometimes I think we play them trying to avoid a cricket score, but other times they look very beatable.

Unfortunately Arsenal are nowhere near consistent enough to make it interesting.

My late sister was a student in Sunderland in the 80s. I was a few years older than her so I used to drive her up there and bring her back at end of term. Used to stay over, and I had some absolutely blinding nights out in both Sunderland and Newcastle. Always liked both teams ever since. There are some knobheads of course, but in my experience both the Geordies and Mackems are in general sound people. Always enjoyed an away trip there as well, stopping over after a night match and often catching a pub with a lock in. I don't get the dislike at all. I speak as I find, and Newcastle might be my second favourite prem team. That whole area has been dumped on by decades of successive governments worse than just about anywhere, good luck to them! ;)
