Talented going forward, for sure. But £17M on a defender who cant defend, has a [Poor language removed] disciplinary record on the pitch and makes a complete show of himself off it? £4M it cost Porstsmouth less than two years ago. I know he's had a few decent games, but I doubt he's added £13M to his value in the intervening period.

That will be the only "big" signing they can afford...unless Machera-hole, Babel, Benayoun all get sold because £17million on a flavour of the month RB aint gonna cut it. Wait till Wes Brown comes back into the fold and see GJ drop to the bench for England. And maybe see Micha Richards steam back into form....because £17million is VERY expensive for a RB unless its Danni Alves.

He cannot defend though. Good going forward but a hefty price to pay for a right-back who is poor in that position. All we can hope is that with each big purchase, they dig a deeper and deeper hole. Then they become less and less attractive for any potential buyer.
