My RS mate informs me that the price tag is £17mill or around there...but Pompy still owe the RS money from that transfer, and they're going to make about £6mill on selling Dosenna to Juve...so all in all it'll cost them around £8-10mill...

BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | L | Liverpool | Liverpool poised to sign Johnson

Talented going forward, for sure. But £17M on a defender who cant defend, has a [Poor language removed] disciplinary record on the pitch and makes a complete show of himself off it? £4M it cost Porstsmouth less than two years ago. I know he's had a few decent games, but I doubt he's added £13M to his value in the intervening period.

That's another big banana skin Benitez has placed in front of himself.

Absolutely spot on assesment.

BBC NEWS | Business | Liverpool owner agrees NHL sale

Liverpool co-owner George Gillett is to sell one of his major assets in a deal which could ease financial pressures at the Premier League club.

He is selling his stake in the NHL's Montreal Canadiens in a deal reported to be worth at least $550m (£332.9m).

Mr Gillett, and fellow Liverpool owner Tom Hicks, have until 24 July to repay £350m they owe to RBS and Wachovia.

Latest accounts show Kop Holdings, the parent company of the Anfield club, lost £42.6m in the year to August 2008.

Interest payments on loans accounted for £36.5m of Kop's losses.

Here Rafael...here's £100M, have a spending spree.

Sorry, was just practising for my part on Mock the Week. It's called..."Things you wouldn't hear at an Anfield board meeting".

BREAKING NEWS: Just agreed a deal with Portsmouth for Glen Johnson. Most likely the RS will be signing the second most expensive right-back in the World. That is what makes me laugh about their fans, they moan about fat man not getting money for transfers yet he has spent more in five years than Everton have done in 55 years. They make me sick, the lot of em.

I think Alves only cost 15.5M didn't he? Glen Johnson is a nice player to have (and sadly we had no answer for him last year) especially if 6+5 comes in but 18M? The world is crazy.

Liverpool will always have money to spend no matter how much they go into debt. Hicks and Gilette aren't bad owners and they sure haven't been skint with their money as Rafael has gotten more money to spend than he deserves.

I just cant understand why any Brittish born player would want to join the RS under the Fat Spanish Man other than for the money. The fact that Benny has sold every Brittish player he has ever bought at Livercrap suggests to me that Johnson will spend two seasons or less at Analfield. Keane, Crouch, Pennant, Fowler, Bellamy are just some of the Brittish born players the waiter has bought then sold. Anyway, why am i discussing that horrible lot across the park, forgive me all. (y)

Just doesn't come across like a typical Liverpool player to me. He'll be trouble for them - in some way shape or form.

He pays that much, then tries to justify it by saying "we aren't paying the full price, they still owe us for Peter Crouch".

Love it, Steevie. Agree with every word.

All this anger and resentment......it's why they exist.

You need to get Azz to talk you through the calming techniques though, pressure points and all that - it worked for me :lol:

No doubt the lad will be sold come january at a stinking loss..my god how deluded are they with Rafael the mans a menace i wouldnt let him near my piggy bank thank you very much.

I was glad Johnson had a good game against Andorra - added a couple of mills to his price.:lol:

Let the Fat Waiter carry on spending, digging them further and further into the debt hole. (y)

I would really, really, really love to see them become the first premiership club to go into administration.:lol:

Not much chance with the player assets they have got, but if they had to sell they would lose ground on the top 3. :D
