Liverpools front two

Player Valuation: £100k
Torres and Keane

should be 50 goals between them easy

That frightens me.

Thats the difference that 20 million players make. Hence why we need at least one player of Moutinho quality to really make people take us seriously as challengers.

At this rate we will be struggling for top 6 for sure.

Its sad but I have to agree. They are both incredible finishes and can make goals out of nothing. We need a Vagner Love and Moutinho to be able to challenge for top 6. With that front 2 I am afraid to say they might be able to challenge for premier league honours come this season.

"...struggling for top six."

Ok then.

I take it you are dismissing the idea we will struggle to finish in the top 6 then? I find that breathtakingly arrogant.

For me the top 4 last year is highly likely to stay the same unless one of them really has a nightmare. In reality very few of our players would get near any of their starting 11s.

Of the tier just below them Villa, Spurs, Maybe Newcastle, Man City, Maybe Blackburn all have good players, good managers and seem to have the same kind of budget as us. Just because we have had a cracking few years doesn;t mean we cannot have some bad luck and a real stinker of a season.

We clearly need to strengthen several areas of the squad and if Yak gets injured now AJ is gone and we are spending 18m on another attacking midfielder then we could struggle.

Ok then.

Honestly could you see us fighting for the top six if the season started tommorrow?

Thats what his and many others points are, unless we start bringing bodys in thick and fast we will be paying the price.

You talk brilliant sense.

We have no divine right to finish anywhere. We can give ourselves a better chance though.

I just dont think our squad is strong enough and has enough depth for us to be spending probably the lions share of our budget on the area of the team that we are strongest in.

...and yet your articulation below really doesn't dispute it now does it?

If you're banking on us "struggling" on breaking the top six again based on a run of "bad luck," you need to have a rethink, not just about the squads and managers you listed above, but our squad and manager as well. Let's play the "What If" game. What a waste of time.

I don't know about you but I actually DO look at the squads and their managers. Few of our players would walk into their squads? What is this? A windup?

No one's denying we need to strengthen.

But I'd submit the "struggling" comment was a bit "breathtaking" in itself and yes, I'm dismissing that idea.

(Edit: Not dismissing your right to your opinion of course...just the opinion itself.)

How is Robbie Keane signing for the rs going to make us struggle for 6th? How is it going to increase Villa's, City's, Spurs' or the barcodes' chances?

Upon further reflection, how is it that we may have a run of bad luck after our recent form but the Big Three and the [Poor language removed] couldn't have the same luck?

I understand the frustration of suppporters when we don't immediately go out and buy players while the other clubs do.

But as we've all seen before, going out and plowing money in the transfer market guarantees one thing...that your wage bill will be higher than the year before.

Newcastle and Spurs are great examples of clubs who've constantly outspent Everton and yet haven't bought success with that spending.

We'll get some players in. But they're gonna have to be the right players for Moyes in terms of the position they play, their price, and even more importantly, their ability to fit in with the club and what he's put together so far.

I'm not banking on us doing anything. You dismiss out of hand that we will struggle to get into the top six;

I say that the clubs I have mentioned above have good teams and good managers and will no doubt strengthen before the start of the campaign. It is not stretching it much to suggest that without us strengthening in the weakest areas of our squad we could struggle to beat them.

I just want us to improve and am worried we are not going to move forward.

Oh, and I'm not on a wind-up, just decided that I wanted to start posting rather than just reading for a change.

Fair play.

I agree that I want us to improve also and I believe that we will.

Sorry as the windup comment was a bit over the top.

Glad your posting as opposed to lurking as it just makes for a better forum. :)

quote]

Teams can have 'unlucky seasons' and bad luck. We could easily lose important players, say Cahill, Yakubu and Lescott at the same time and leave us in trouble.

Thats why we need a strong squad so you can hedge your bets a bit and actually cope with losing players.

Last season prime example RS drew a hideous number of games for some reason and we were in with a chance of nicking 4th as we had done pretty well and we blew it because we ran out of gas and options.

oh [Poor language removed]! liverpool have bought robbie keane.

what is the point of even competing this season! we are not going to get near the top six now!!!!!!

in fact none of our players are top 4 quality!!!

for [Poor language removed] sake. sort it out please.
