Welcome! Glad to hear you're from Pickering---my father was a nuclear engineer and visited the plant up there a couple times. Still operational?

The Pickering nuclear plant is still operational, but they plan to decommission it in around 10 years time.

Maple Leafs are named after the Maple Leaf Regiment who fought in WWI. This makes Maple Leaf a "proper noun" so it's Leafs and not Leaves. Kind of like if Julia Child and her family were coming over, you wouldn't or at least shouldn't say "The Children are coming over for dinner, let's make cheese on toast with a side of pineapple pizza", it would be "The Child's are coming over....."

The bear was drinking Red Dog beer....in honour of Batman and other famous cunning linguists.

Been lurking here for a couple of years, but thought it was about time to start posting. Live in Canada near Toronto. My dad grew up an Evertonian and use to go to Goodison with his brothers starting in the late '40's on through the late '60's when he moved to Canada.

Started following football enthusiastically later in life (late 20's), but match day is now the highlight of my week and make sure I catch every Everton game.

It's been fun lurking, but excited to start contributing!
