Looking at the sun

Anyway, i am reading all these health warnings about this eclipse coming up and how to not look at the sun. So dont look at the eclipse, dont take a selfie of the eclipse, dont talk about the eclipse etc, you get my meaning. But i have one question.

THE SUN DOESNT GO ANYWHERE!!!!! WHY THE HELL DO WE NEED ALL THESE PROFESSIONALS TELLING US NOW THAT LOOKING AT THE SUN IS BAD FOR US?

Seriously are we all stupid? Are we seen as sheep? the sun is apparently dangerous all the time but we dont all get warnings about burning our eyes any other time of the last 20 years. Only for the eclipse! I know people will be looking at it but at the same time people look at the sun when its not an eclipse.

So yeah, seriously, why are we getting spoken to like children?

Apparently you can watch safely the eclipse by making a pinhole in a piece of cardboard then let the light filter through the pinhole onto a blank piece of paper a few inches away.

Failing that, a bucket of sawdust is yer man.

You can look at the Sun through a really powerful telescope! The thickness will protect your eyes, same with binoculars.
